According to a study conducted by faculty at Texas A&M and the University of Florida, the Broad College’s Management faculty is 4th in the country in research productivity for 2010. In 2009, the department set a record for productivity, and management faculty remain 1st in the country for research productivity from the time period 2005-2010.

“The remarkable number we achieved last year, when we were number one for the year, is much higher than this year’s number one and still sets the record for one-year productivity by any department in any year,” says Eli Broad Professor of Management John Hollenbeck.

Researchers at Texas A&M and the University of Florida analyzed and ranked management departments in terms of their research productivity in the top management journals. To create the rankings, the study counted all management departments and universities that published articles in eight top management journals: Academy of Management JournalAcademy of Management Review,Administrative Science QuarterlyJournal of Applied PsychologyOrganization ScienceOrganizational Behavior and Human Decision ProcessesPersonnel Psychology and Strategic Management Journal.

During 2010, the Broad management department published 11 articles. They had 23, a record-setting number, published in 2009. From 2005-2010, the management department had 78 articles published in this set of journals. This is five more than the next most productive department, which is at the University of Pennsylvania. The remainder of the Top 5 includes the University of Michigan, the University of Maryland-College Park and Harvard.
