On the cutting edge of innovative academic programming, Broad College of Business’ Supply Chain Management program entered a new chapter of going global. From June 27-July 15, 61 students from the SP Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR), one of Mumbai, India’s top business schools, will immerse themselves in SCM curriculum as part of a new partnership with Broad and Kelly Services.

These SPJIMR students are in the process of obtaining their Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM), equivalent to Broad’s Full-Time MBA. With an average of four years professional experience, they previously worked in consulting, operations, logistics and supply chain management for top Indian and global corporations, such as PricewaterhouseCoopers, Nestlé India, and Tata Motors, to name a few. “In India, we place a huge emphasis on reputation, and know MSU’s program is at the very top. There is a suite of resources here that we wouldn’t have elsewhere and it’s a perfect match for what we study,” said Naman Khanna, who previously worked for Engineers India Limited and Whirlpool.

Over three weeks, 61 SPJIMR students will take part in Broad’s new SCM cohort program focusing on innovation, sustainability, and analytics

During their three weeks at Broad, they will undergo project-based learning based on live staffing data from Kelly, alongside curriculum from Broad faculty based on SCM, innovation, analytics, and sustainability. The curriculum was designed over three months by Broad SCM faculty Dave Closs, Sriram Narayanan, and Keith Bezant Niblett, and deepens the five-year partnership the SCM program maintains with SPJIMR. Alongside the interactive curriculum, the students will present formal business cases to Kelly at the end of their time on campus, making official recommendations to the staffing company on international strategies.

“SPJIMR has been a partner for five years. If this program is successful, we hope it becomes a regular annual occurrence, bringing together thought leaders from SPJIMR and Broad faculty, and a global company like Kelly Services for real-time business research,” said Keith Nibblit, Broad’s assistant director, International Relationships & Executive Development Programs. “This program advances our international reputation and enhances are brand recognition, and we’re thrilled to be piloting it this year.”

The current class of 61 students is the largest in SPJIMR history and Broad was selected for this cohort program by leadership and faculty from the institution.

“As someone who has prior work experience with McKinsey & Company, I can say with confidence that this collaboration of SPJIMR and MSU gives all the students that additional edge over the rest of the participants in other business schools. It gives us global exposure and the opportunity to discuss and debate topics which are up and coming for all industry experts,” said SPJIMR’s Dhara Popat.
