  • Biography
    Paulette L. Stenzel, J.D. is professor of Sustainability and International Business Law in the Department of Finance at the Broad School. She has a J.D. (Juris Doctorate) from Wayne State University Law School and earned her B.A., Magna Cum Laude, from Albion College, Albion, MIchigan..

    Professor Stenzel coordinates offerings in the Business Law group within the Department of Finance. She is active in teaching and advising Honors College students and is the originator of Honors Business Program in the Yucatan of Mexico. She currently teaches courses in International Business Lawand Sustainability; Environmental Law and Sustainability for Business:  From Local to Global; and Business, Law, and Ethics.  

    Her off campus professional activities include service as staff editor for two major journals:  The American Business Law Journal, and the Journal of Legal Studies in Education. Her research, public service, and service to students are in the area of sustainability.  Recent publications cover Corporate Social Responsibility and the tools of sustainable development:   Fair Trade, Direct Trade, microfinance, cooperatives, and local purchasing.  She has also written on major trade agreements including the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA),  the Dominician Republic-Central American Free Trade Agreement (DR-CAFTA), and the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT).  

    Professor Stenzel is also active with MSU student groups. She advises Spartan Global Development Fund (SGDF), a group devoted to microfinance projects around the world, and serves on the Board of Directors of the 501(c)(3) organization founded by SGDF. She  advises  Students Today--Leaders Forever, and Net Impact. Additionally, she co-chairs and advises a student-driven committee: the Broad College Sustainability Action Committee.
