Case Competitions
As a Broad MBA, you learn how to execute under tight deadlines, which is articulated through our consistently strong performance in internal and external case competitions, including some of the most highly regarded national competitions.
Case competitions provide you with an opportunity to:
- Simulate real world business situations
- Showcase your talent
- Give employers an objective glimpse into your potential on-the-job performance
Case competitions have become an integral part of the Broad MBA experience.
Breakthrough to Broad (B2B) Case Competition
Broad's practical approach, blending theory with hands-on, team-based learning, is evident upon your arrival on campus when you get a taste of case competitions during orientation. At that time, each MBA team is given a case to solve.
Broad vs. Broad Case Competition
Each year, four-person teams of first-year MBA students compete in an annual Broad vs. Broad Case Competition. Student teams have 24 hours to complete their analyses of the case they are given and prepare presentations to deliver to a group of industry and faculty judges. The event is a highlight of the MBA program and remains successful year after year due to the enthusiasm and encouragement of second-year students, financial support by corporate sponsors, and a number of alumni, corporate partners, and faculty who serve as judges.
Big Ten Case Competition
The Big 10 Case Competition is comprised of two rounds. In the first round, three teams compete against one another, with a winning team from each set progressing to the final round. Best individual presenter and best individual Q&A winners are also selected from each of the three groups of teams.
SCM Case Competition
The SCM Case Competition has a format similar to the Big Ten Case Competition. The event brings together MBA students studying Supply Chain Management to compete against and network with fellow students and industry professionals.
brandNEW! Brand Creation Competition
A university-wide, team-based brand creation competition, brandNEW involves Full-Time MBA students conceiving of a new brand in a chosen category. Case results are judged by industry professionals.
Net Impact Case Competition
A premier competition built around businesses facing sustainability challenges while succeeding financially, the Net Impact Case Competition encourages student teams to develop strategies to integrate social, political, and environmental issues and lay the foundation to meet corporate goals in these areas.
