Six Broad faculty members receive promotion

Six faculty members from Michigan State University’s Broad College of Business will be recognized at upcoming promotion ceremonies. Sriram Narayanan, Clay Voorhees, and Tobias Schoenherr have been promoted to associate professors with tenure.  Karen Sedatole, Edward Fee, and A.J. Singh are now full professors with tenure.

Narayanan.SriramNarayanan, Lily Teaching Fellow and associate professor of supply chain management, received his PhD at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has been published in journals such as Management Science, Strategic Management Journal, and Production and Operations Management. His research focuses on managing productivity in knowledge-intensive work environments and managing outsourcing issues. He also serves on the editorial review boards of Journal of Operations Management and IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management.

Voorhees.ClayAssociate Professor of Marketing Clay Voorhees earned his PhD at Florida State University. His work has been published in many different journals including the Journal of Marketing, Strategic Management Journal, and Journal of Retailing. His research primarily centers on customer experience management, customer loyalty and relationship marketing, and return on marketing investments.

SchoenherrSchoenherr, associate professor of supply chain management, earned his PhD from Indiana University. He serves on the editorial review boards of the Journal of Business Logistics, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, the International Journal of Integrated Supply Management, and the Journal of Supply Chain Management. His research, which is mainly focused on strategic supply management, has been published in Management Science, Decision Sciences, and the Journal of Operations Management, among others. He is also a recipient of the 2013 MSU Teacher-Scholar Award, which is awarded to faculty members in recognition of their skill and devotion to teaching.

SedatoleProfessor of Accounting Karen Sedatole holds a PhD from the University of Michigan and received the AAA Notable Contributions to Management Accounting Research Award in both 2009 and 2012. Her work on research topics such as control in interorganizational collaborations has been published in the Journal of Accounting Research, Contemporary Accounting Research, and Management Science, among others. She is also on the editorial boards of The Accounting Review, the Journal of Management Accounting Research, and Accounting, Organizations, and Society.

FeePhilip J. May Endowed Professor of Finance Edward Fee received his PhD from the University of Florida. His research areas include corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and financial policy and customer/supplier relationships, to name a few. His work has been published in journals such as the Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Accounting Research, and The Accounting Review.

SinghSingh, Hilton Hotels Fellow and professor in The School of Hospitality Business, received his PhD from Michigan State University. As the Hilton Hotels Fellow, he is the director of the real estate and development specialization, which he helped to create. His responsibilities also include restructuring the Real Estate Development Advisory Council and adding research, training affiliations, and outreach for The School. His research, usually on topics linked to value creation, has been published in the International Journal of Hospitality Management, Cornell Hotel and Restaurant Administration Quarterly, and Travel and Tourism Analyst, among others.

The promotion ceremony for associate professors Narayanan, Voorhees, and Schoenherr will be held on October 8 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center. The ceremony to recognize professors Sedatole, Fee, and Singh is scheduled for December 19 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Kellogg Center. Both ceremonies will include a reception and a dinner.
