For about 1,000 lucky kids, ages 8-12 years, and their grandparents, 10 a.m., December 17 is an important date. That’s the official opening of online registration for the 2014 Grandparents University at Michigan State University, scheduled for June 24-26, 2014, on the MSU campus. Before the day is out, say the organizers, more than 80 percent of the available registrations will be sold.

Now in its 7th year, Grandparents University offers a unique “college experience” of residence hall living, attending classes across campus and learning about MSU student traditions like The Rock, MSU Dairy Store and Sparty Plaza. Grandparents University gives alumni a chance to relive their college days while exploring campus and creating lifelong memories with their grandchildren.

Hundreds of classes are offered, taught by faculty of the participating colleges. The Broad College of Business will offer seven classes on the 2014 schedule: Getting Acquainted in our Global Neighborhood (cross-cultural awareness), Just in Time (supply chain principles), My First Start Up: Lemonade Stands and Other Lessons in Early Entrepreneurship (entrepreneurship and marketing), The Nest Egg Game (personal finance), No Yolk Construction Challenge (goal setting and strategy), Summer Cooking for Kids (culinary), and Homemade Pizza Party (culinary).
