MSU receives national recognition for interior design renovations

MSU’s renovated living and dining facilities received numerous national recognitions during an interior design competition hosted by the Association of University Interior Designers. Among the awards was a top mark for the renovation of the Ernst and Young Communication Center.

The university’s Planning and Projects Office was responsible for the design and execution of these renovations around campus. The PPO oversees interior design, construction, space planning, and contractor relations.

“Our team has proved to be dynamic and creative in resolving problems related to the architecture of MSU buildings,” said Bill Whitbeck, project coordinator for the Planning and Projects Office. “The AUID competition awards reflect MSU’s reputation as an institution dedicated to innovative and sustainable interior design projects.”

The competition hosted 25 universities and recognized MSU in the following categories: renovations under $50,000, renovations between $50,000 and $150,000, and renovations more than $150,000. The Ernst and Young Communication Center ranked first in renovations between $50,000 and $150,000. Design and architectural experts from around the country judged entries.
