MSU to hold value creation summit

Michigan State University’s Midland Research Institute for Value Chain Creation is holding a summit to discuss potential research projects August 11-12 at the H Hotel in Midland, Michigan.

The inaugural summit, “Collaborative Value Chain Creation: Charting a Bold Research Direction,” will feature presentations on sustainability, value chain optimization, water delivery, and value chain analytics from experts in the field. Executives from industry partners The Dow Chemical Company and Dow Corning Corporation will also address the audience of business leaders and university researchers who will help set the research agenda for the institute.

Research conducted at the MRIVCC will focus on topics such as value chain management, integrated supply chain solutions, and food and water safety. Results will provide firms with effective and sustainable solutions that will help reduce costs, increase efficiency, and improve reliability and security.

MRIVCC was established in late 2013 by MSU with the support of The Dow Chemical Company, Dow Corning Corporation, and several Midland-based foundations to tackle global challenges in value chain creation. Faculty and graduate students in MSU’s Eli Broad College of Business, College of Engineering, College of Agriculture and Natural Science, and College of Social Science will conduct collaborative research with input from corporate partners.

The institute will also offer graduate, certificate, and executive development programs online and on-site and will open an office in the East End District in Midland in late 2014.
