Sanjay Gupta (PhD ’90), The Eli and Edythe L. Broad Dean of the Eli Broad College of Business, and two other Michigan State University Broad College accounting alumni were honored at this year’s American Accounting Association (AAA) 2015 Annual Meeting and Conference on Teaching and Learning awards ceremony.
Gupta, along with Erin M. Towry and Lillian F. Mills, were presented with the Journal of the American Taxation Association (2014 – Volume 36) Outstanding Paper Award for “The Effect of Mandatory Financial Statement Disclosures of Tax Uncertainty on Tax Reporting and Collections: The Case of FIN 48 and Multistate Tax Avoidance.”
Frank A. Buckless (BA Accounting ’81, PhD ’89), KPMG department head and professor of accounting, North Carolina University College of Management, received the APLG Leadership, Initiative and Service Award.
Randal J. Elder (PhD ’92), professor of accounting at the Syracuse University Whitman School of Management, and Alfred A. Yebba were awarded the GNP 2015 Annual Meeting Best Paper Award for “The Effects of Local Government GAAP Regulation on Audit Market Concentration, Auditor Specialization, and Audit Fees.”
The AAA annual meeting and awards presentation was in Chicago August 12.
