Broad MBA alumnus Jeevak Badve encouraged the audience to infuse creation with emotion during a recent TEDxDetroit talk. Badve (EMBA ’09) spoke about how emotion and beauty are essential to successful industrial design, and how the products we choose to use in our lives affect us.
“I encourage each and every one of you to please consider demanding more beautiful and meaningful objects, as I sincerely believe the strongest political action any citizen can make is how they carefully choose the products they buy, because you can change the culture by the products you use. Let’s try to surround ourselves with beauty and meaning. Infuse emotion into your creations,” Badve said.
Badve has more than 17 years of professional design experience. He is currently the vice president of strategic growth at Sundberg-Ferar, a product innovation studio. He started his career with Tata Motors and then Tata-Johnson Controls, Tata Elxsi, GM Warren Design Center, and ASC. His design influence has reached clients that include GM Design, VW, Navistar, Hyundai, Saleen, Monaco, Tata, Coda, IC Bus, Fiat, and many more.
