Ralph Gilles to Lead Global Design for Fiat Chrysler

Ralph Gilles (EMBA ’02) has been named head of global design and a member of the FCA Group Executive Council at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. Previously, Gilles was head of design for all of the company’s U.S. brands, which include Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, and Ram. Gilles is now in charge of designing new cars for Fiat, Maserati, and Alfa Romeo. As part of the Group Executive Council, Gilles will help make product development, manufacturing, and other major company decisions. More about the promotion

Spartan Honored at MLTA Pure Michigan Governor’s Conference on Tourism

During the annual Governor’s Conference on Tourism in Grand Rapids March 22–24, more than 700 people attended a “Stars of the Industry” dinner that recognized Michigan’s best in hospitality and tourism for 2015, including Judy Zehnder Keller (BA ’67). Keller, president and owner of the Frankenmuth Bavarian Inn Lodge, was honored as the RD Musser Hotelier of the Year. Keller is a Hall of Fame member of MSU’s The School of Hospitality Business Alumni Association and was nominated last year by past director of The School Ron Cichy. Keller’s personal approach to her staff members, her community involvement, service to the industry, and her success in running a four-generation family operation all were applauded as she accepted her award. More Than 60 Alumni Nominated for Executive MBA Award

Sixty-four alumni have been nominated for the Executive MBA Alumni of the Decade award. From these nominees, 10 honorees will be selected—two per decade—and recognized at the Broad Executive MBA Celebration May 14 at the Fillmore Detroit. Graduates of the Advanced Management Program (AMP), Executive MBA (EMBA), and Weekend MBA (WMBA) and their spouses or guests are welcome.

Alumni Marketing Expert Will Be Keynote at Broad Executive Forum of Chicago

The Broad Executive Forum of Chicago welcomes John Costello (MBA Marketing ’70), president of Global Marketing and Innovation for Dunkin’ Brands, Tuesday, April 14. Don’t miss this chance to hear from one of the recognized leaders in advertising and marketing strategy. An expert panel of marketing and advertising executives from Michigan State University, McDonald’s Corporation, and IPG MediaBrands will also share how their companies maintain brand freshness in an increasingly disruptive consumer marketplace. Registration closes Friday at midnight.

The School of Hospitality Business Students Learn about Hotel Ownership, Development during Spring Break

The School of Hospitality Business sent several members of its Real Estate Investment Club (REIC) to San Juan, Puerto Rico, for a spring break experience to learn about hotel management, development, and financing. Alumnus Hugh Andrews (BA ’71, MBA ’72), founder and CEO of International Hospitality Enterprises (IHE) in San Juan, was the host. During the week, students had the opportunity to learn about subjects such as asset management, meeting market and brand standards, marketing in the development and pre-opening stage of hotel, and real estate financing and project valuation from managers at Condado Vanderbilt, Doubletree San Juan, La Concha Resort, Condado Palm Inn, and others. Broad Senior Hired at J.P. Morgan Securities in New York

Finance senior and Financial Markets Institute scholar Mike Kmiec—who received the undergraduate award for excellence in finance from the Detroit Chapter of Financial Execs International—will join J.P. Morgan Securities in New York as an analyst on the firm’s leveraged finance team when he graduates. He was recently listed in’s “10 Undergrads Ready to Revolutionize the Finance Industry.” More about Kmiec
