On November 13, an unauthorized party gained access to an MSU server containing certain sensitive data (names, social security numbers, MSU identification numbers, and in some cases date of birth) for some present and past students and employees. The affected database was taken offline within 24 hours of the unauthorized access, and the MSU Police Department is working diligently with federal law enforcement partners to investigate the crime. As a precaution, MSU is providing two years of identity theft protection, fraud recovery, and credit monitoring to all individuals who may be affected by this criminal act.
