Ryan Devlin (BA Hospitality Business ’03) earned a place on Fast Company’s 2017 list of 100 Most Creative People in Business with his company, This Bar Save Lives, a one-for-one nutrition bar. For every bar sold, This Bar Saves Lives donates a packet of life-saving food to a child in need.

$3 Million Gift to Business Pavilion to Inspire Entrepreneurship

Larry Gaynor (BA Accounting ’77), president and CEO of TNG Worldwide, and his wife, company vice president Teresa Gaynor, gifted $3 million to the Business Pavilion. The gift will create the Gaynor Entrepreneurship Lab, a large, transformative space that will feature the latest technology and flexible space conducive to hosting entrepreneurship-focused business courses, recitation sessions, and group work.

Annual Gathering of Leaders 2017 Honors HB Alumni

The School of Hospitality Business hosted its Alumni Association Annual Gathering of Leaders May 22 in Chicago, concurrent with the National Restaurant Association trade show. The event honored Alumni of the Year John M. and Rebecca J. Duffey (both BA ’82); Emerging Alumni Leaders of the Year Philip L. Zeller (BA ’96) and Kurt Wisniewski (BA ’94); and Honorary Alumnus of the Year Patrick Donelly.

President Lou Anna K. Simon recently approved plans to begin construction on the Business Pavilion. Construction crews are preparing the current facilities and surroundings for the forthcoming groundbreaking and building activities. The formal groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for September 8. MBA Entrepreneur to Head to Clinton Global Initiative

Abhishek Jindal (FTMBA ’18) will present his venture AgriTech to like-minded scholars, entrepreneurs, and emerging leaders at the Clinton Global Initiative University Meeting in October. The venture introduces the use of vertical greenhouse farms to produce food in developing nations’ crowded metropolitan areas—and provides the initial capital needed to set them up.

Top 30 Best College for Your Money, Says Money Magazine

When it comes to using your college degree to get a job and achieve success, MSU is one of the nation’s top 30 universities, according to a new ranking by Money Magazine. The ranking placed MSU in the top 1.5 percent of its analysis of 2,400 schools based on educational quality, affordability, and alumni success.

Student Success Initiative Honored for Innovation

MSU won the Eduventures 2017 Innovation Award for its commitment to increasing graduation rates and closing opportunity gaps for first generation, low-income, and underrepresented populations. MSU’s Student Success Transformation Initiative is a collaborative, cross-campus effort to help undergraduate students reduce their time to graduation.
