Craig Menear, Joel Clum, and Kaleb Thornhill
Alumni Honored with Grand Awards

MSU will honor three Broad alumni at the annual Grand Awards Gala October 19. Craig Menear (BA Human Resources ’79), president and CEO of the Home Depot, will receive the Distinguished Alumni Award. Joel Clum (BA Finance ’08), chief operations officer of Worldwide Express, and Kaleb Thornhill (BA Human Resources ’07), director of player engagement for the NFL’s Miami Dolphins, will receive the Young Alumni Award.

Dean Gupta, Alum Leader Address First International MSU Executive Forum

Dean Sanjay Gupta and Eric Luo (MBA ’00) will speak at the MSU Executive Forum in Shanghai October 29. Luo, senior advisor at the U.S.–China Green Fund, will present a keynote about trends in clean energy.

The School Celebrates Leadership

The annual School of Hospitality Business Celebration of Leadership is scheduled for Saturday, November 11, in New York City. Enjoy a lavish reception and hosted bar as we honor and recognize the 2017 Industry Leader of the Year and the Hall of Fame “Class of Trendsetters.”

EMBA Hosts Executive Career Search Event

Amplify your most important branding tools in the executive job market – your resume and LinkedIn profile – at “The Executive Career Search: Advanced Resumes and LinkedIn Profiles for Executive MBAs” Tuesday, November 14, 6–9 p.m. in Troy. An international expert’s presentation will be followed by Q&A and networking over hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. The free presentation is also available by live webinar.

Forbes: Broad MBA Quickest to Pay Back Costs

In the latest Forbes ranking, Broad’s Full-Time MBA ranked #9 among public programs and #25 overall. Forbes also calculated the number of years required to pay back all the costs of an MBA education. At 3.6 years, Broad is tied for the quickest time to payback of all ranked schools.

Warrington Lecture Shares on Culture of “Orange-Blooded Family”

Hundreds of students gathered for the 2017 Warrington Lecture, presented by Craig Menear (BA Human Resources ’79), president and CEO of the Home Depot. This year, Dean Gupta and Menear engaged in a conversational fireside chat for a more open conversation with each other and students in the audience. No topic was off limits, including tough questions around diversity, disaster preparedness, and the challenges of stores in an e-commerce world.

The Broad College will be telling impactful stories of our alumni, faculty research, and programs across state of Michigan, promoting those from the Motor City in the first semester. Michigan State Madness will be held Friday, October 20. This annual event celebrates the beginning of the 2017–18 season for both the men’s and women’s basketball teams. Doors to the Breslin Center will open at 8:30 p.m. Admission is free.
