Breaking Ground on $60M Pavilion

MSU broke ground Friday on the Business Pavilion. Broad College alumni and donors joined Dean Sanjay Gupta and President Lou Anna K. Simon for the official groundbreaking ceremony. The 100,000-square-foot facility, adjacent to the North Business College Complex and Eppley Center, is expected to be completed in 2019.

Spartans, Come Home for Homecoming

Join us on campus for MSU’s Homecoming celebration Sunday, October 15–Saturday, October 21! Building on this year’s theme, “Uniquely Spartan,” the week will feature a variety of activities, including:

Alumnus Founds Philanthropic Initiative

John Miller (EMBA ’89), former director of the Executive MBA Program, recently found his calling in the 100 Men’s Club in metro Detroit. Miller proudly serves on the steering committee, working closely with Keith Charron (EMBA ’84), who founded the Detroit chapter with his son. Inspired by clubs across the country with similar missions, the group helps its philanthropically minded members to make a big impact on the local area together as they donate $100 per quarter to a single nonprofit they vote to select.

Seats Still Available for Detroit Executive Forum

Register today for the 2017 MSU Detroit Executive Forum, to be held Thursday, October 5, 6–8 p.m. at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn. Jim Hackett, president and CEO of the Ford Motor Company, will be the featured speaker. Registration is $70 per person and includes appetizers, two drink tickets, and entrance to the museum. Attendance is open to all Spartans, their clients, and their colleagues.

Seven Years on Top: U.S. News Ranks Broad the Leader in Supply Chain

In the 2018 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges ranking of undergraduate programs, the Broad College ranked among the nation’s top 15 public business schools and the top 25 B-schools overall. Broad also topped the supply chain management/logistics specialty ranking for the seventh year in a row.

Sales Newbies, Go Above and Beyond

Good news for novice salespeople worried about becoming successful: Expressing your gratitude to customers by going above and beyond your job description may be as effective as developing long-term relationships with them, indicates a first-of-its-kind study. When salespeople did so, customer gratitude shot up to the same high level for both new and long-term relationships.

Investiture Ceremony Honors New Faculty Appointments

On September 22, the Broad College will again demonstrate its commitment to investing in world-class faculty as it honors six new endowed faculty professors and fellows. The new appointments bring the college’s roster of endowments to 38 – the most of any MSU college.

Solving the Parkinson’s Puzzle

MSU is taking a lead in fighting Parkinson’s disease. Two recent studies by Spartan researchers have found new ways that could predict Parkinson’s and slow its progression.

MSU: Top 40 for Contributing to the Public Good

Washington Monthly’s ranking of U.S. universities based on their contribution to the public good placed MSU among the top 40 universities overall and the top 25 public universities. The ranking evaluates schools based on their contributions in the areas of social mobility, research, and service.

Who Will Rescue Stranded Hurricane Victims? Spartans Will.

As historic floodwaters took over Houston after Hurricane Harvey, Spartans lent a helping hand. The Houston Spartans Alumni Club facilitated rescues for stranded hurricane victims through their Facebook group.
