SUMMARY:Hospitality Business: Career Expo Spring Edition
DESCRIPTION:The School of Hospitality Business invites you to join us for a Virtual Career Expo-Spring Edition on Tuesday\, March 23\, 2021 on Handshake! We are excited to connect you  because many hospitality employers are reengaging with us after suffering a difficult time during COVID-19. \nDescription/Time: Company Information Sessions will be held from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm.  After a 30 minute break\, companies will host one on one session with students from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. \nDirections: After registering for CAREER EXPO-SPRING EDITION on Handshake\, you will be given the opportunity to sign up for 30-minute informational group sessions with specific companies AND 10-minute individual sessions with a company recruiter. You can sign up for both before CAREER EXPO or after EXPO starts\, up until one minute prior to the open time slot. The 30-minute group sessions will allow you to research and learn more about a specific company and their culture to see if you are a good fit. They will also answer any general questions about the company and the position they have to offer. The 10-minute sessions give you the opportunity to engage with recruiters in a more personal setting. These sessions are designed as networking opportunities for students\, short interviews   or as a prescreen for a more formal interview that the employer will conduct with you after the career fair is over. Individual employers will list on Handshake their hiring needs. If they are hiring\, please make sure you meet the requirements of the company before you sign up for a 10 minute one on one session. If they are not hiring\, then any student can select a one on one meeting. One on one time slots are limited\, and we want to make sure those who are eligible have an opportunity first\, however if no one signs up\, then feel free to sign up for the open time slot. \nEmployers will see you on the video platform on Handshake so professional dress is REQUIRED. No sweats\, uncombed hair\, or pajamas! This is a fantastic opportunity to meet one-on-one with recruiters. \nSIRC Student Help Zoom Room Link (Available all day on 3/23/21 from 9:00 AM – 7:30 PM)

SUMMARY:Innovate State\, with Bob Fish
DESCRIPTION:Innovate State is a collaboration between the Burgess Institute for Entrepreneurship & Innovation and the MSU Innovation Center. \nHosted in the Gaynor Entrepreneurship Lab\, Innovate State welcomes successful Spartan alumni back to campus for a fireside chat. Guests share their perspectives on everything from launching start-ups to experiencing success and failure to building dynamic and nurturing work cultures. \n \n  \nAbout The Speaker\nReceiving his degree from Michigan State University’s School of Hospitality Business\, Bob Fish has been Chairman of the Board of the Michigan Restaurant Association\, Chair of the Small Business Association of Michigan\, and was a Founding Board member of MiQuest\, a Michigan entrepreneurial incubator. With all of this under his belt\, on March 15\, 1995\, Bob Fish and Michael McFall founded BIGGBY® COFFEE with a single store in East Lansing\, Michigan. One year later\, and on the cusp of opening a second location\, the two entrepreneurs\, on a handshake and $4\,000\, decided to franchise the concept. BIGGBY® COFFEE’s cultural values of Make Friends\, Have Fun\, Be Yourself\, and Share Great Coffee help coffee-lovers and the coffee-curious alike benefit from a less pretentious and fun approach to the standard gourmet cafe paradigm. Today\, there are 239 locations in nine states. Bob enjoys walking\, mainly around Saugatuck\, MI. \n  \nAbout Innovate State\nEvery year\, Innovate State features Spartan entrepreneur\, innovators\, and disruptors to join our community for a fireside chat. In these 60-minute interviews\, guests share their perspectives on everything from business to family life; the hard knocks of the hustle to maintaining work/life balance. These are stories of success\, stories of failure\, and stories of uncommon will. \nInnovate State is proudly brought to you by the Burgess Institute for Entrepreneurship & Innovation in collaboration with the MSU Innovation Center and MSU Alumni Office. Innovate State kicks-off at 6 p.m. and are free to the community. Events will be held via Zoom. SUMMARY:Supply Chain Disruption Amid COVID-19 (No Cost Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:Corporate Sustainability & Innovation in the Post-Pandemic Recovery: The Myths\, Challenges & Opportunities\nIn the first five installments of this webinar series\, we explored what firms can do to build more resilient and responsive supply chains to mitigate disruptions under extraordinary events\, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. We then discussed the impact for specific industries; in particular\, transportation\, pharmaceutical\, and healthcare. The most recent two webinars focused on the vaccine supply chain and the lessons learned under COVID-19. Frayer\, Ph.D.\, Assistant Dean\, Outreach and Engagement\, and will feature four sustainability experts. \nSpeakers: \n\nVedat Verter\, Chairperson SCM and McConnell Chaired Professor – Opening Remarks\nHan Zhang\, Assistant Professor SCM – Research Perspectives\nYing Liu\, Founder and CEO\, Blue Lake Packaging (formerly\, Senior Director of Product Operations and Corporate Social Responsibility at Apple)\nBing Cao\, Co-Founder & Managing Partner\, Blue Lake Packaging (formerly\, Associate Partner and Solution Leader at McKinsey & Company)
