DESCRIPTION:Jordi Blanes i Vidal from LSE will present “The Effect of Advisors’ Incentives on Clients’ Investments”. Though it’s in the theory seminar given its IO/contracts nature\, the paper’s contents are highly and mostly empirical\, and finance and macro-flavored\, as you can tell from the abstract and attached paper. All faculty and students are welcome. \nIf you would like to meet Dr. Blanes i Vidal\, please sign up for time slots on this Google Doc. \nThe password for the virtual Zoom event is: msutheory \nAbout the Speaker\nDr. Jordi Blanes i Vidal is Associate Professor of Managerial Economics and Strategy in the Department of Management at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Prior to this he was a Prize Research Fellow at Nuffield College\, Oxford University. During 2007 he was also a visiting scholar at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER). He received his PhD and Master’s\, both in economics\, from LSE and his BA in economics from the University of Valencia. His expertise includes organizational economics\, political economy\, leadership\, and human resource management. His papers have appeared in journals such as Review of Economic Studies\, RAND Journal of Economics\, Journal of Law and Economics\, and American Economic Review.

In this role\, Stevens provides strategic direction and leadership to the MICHauto program in its efforts to promote\, grow and retain Michigan’s automotive and next-generation mobility industries. \nThey will be joined by Trevor Pawl\, Chief Mobility Officer\, Office of Future Mobility and Electrification\, his office works across state government\, academia\, and private industry to enhance Michigan’s mobility ecosystem\, including developing dynamic mobility\, and electrification policies and supporting the startup and scale up of emerging technologies and businesses.

The Hatching is part of a community-wide effort to support local entrepreneurs and make the Lansing region a great place to start a business. This event helps move new business ideas from concept to reality\, and provides winners with funding\, legal support\, market research and more. \nLEAP invites all startups working on a product or service with a potential for positive local or global impact on physical\, economic and social challenges to apply. DESCRIPTION:We are all vulnerable to showing a wide range of emotions at work\, intentionally and unintentionally\, as leaders and as subordinates. Displayed emotion – positive\, negative\, or indifferent – draws a wide range of responses in the workplace. Brent Scott\, Ph.D.\, is at the leading edge of research regarding the way emotions play out in the work environment and their impact on well-being and productivity. During the September 15 Business and Bagels\, Scott will speak to how managers and team leaders can manage their own emotions to elicit desired outcome\, or to avoid unintended consequences like a sense of unfairness at work. Join Business and Bagels to get further acquainted with emotion regulation and fairness in the workplace. \nPresenter:\nBrent Scott\, Ph.D. is the Frederick S. Addy Distinguished Professor in the Broad College of Business Department of Management. His research focuses on the role of mood and emotions at work\, organizational justice\, and well-being.
