Prior to this he was a Prize Research Fellow at Nuffield College\, Oxford University. During 2007 he was also a visiting scholar at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER). He received his PhD and Master’s\, both in economics\, from LSE and his BA in economics from the University of Valencia. His expertise includes organizational economics\, political economy\, leadership\, and human resource management. His papers have appeared in journals such as Review of Economic Studies\, RAND Journal of Economics\, Journal of Law and Economics\, and American Economic Review.

DESCRIPTION:The Hatching\, hosted by LEAP (Lansing Economic Area Partnership)\, is a Pitch Competition open to entrepreneurs who reside in Clinton\, Eaton\, Ingham and Shiawassee counties. The Hatching is part of a community-wide effort to support local entrepreneurs and make the Lansing region a great place to start a business. This event helps move new business ideas from concept to reality\, and provides winners with funding\, legal support\, market research and more. \nLEAP invites all startups working on a product or service with a potential for positive local or global impact on physical\, economic and social challenges to apply. Each winner will receive $2\,000 and will get the opportunity to connect to a network of local resource providers and individuals dedicated to helping aspiring entrepreneurs succeed. \nThe event will be livestreamed on LEAP’s Facebook page.

DESCRIPTION:We are all vulnerable to showing a wide range of emotions at work\, intentionally and unintentionally\, as leaders and as subordinates. Displayed emotion – positive\, negative\, or indifferent – draws a wide range of responses in the workplace. Brent Scott\, Ph.D.\, is at the leading edge of research regarding the way emotions play out in the work environment and their impact on well-being and productivity. During the September 15 Business and Bagels\, Scott will speak to how managers and team leaders can manage their own emotions to elicit desired outcome\, or to avoid unintended consequences like a sense of unfairness at work. Join Business and Bagels to get further acquainted with emotion regulation and fairness in the workplace. \nPresenter:\nBrent Scott\, Ph.D. is the Frederick S. Addy Distinguished Professor in the Broad College of Business Department of Management. His research focuses on the role of mood and emotions at work\, organizational justice\, and well-being.

DESCRIPTION:The annual Finance Association career fair allows members to meet and interact with company recruiters for internships and full-time positions. We host nearly fifty companies who are all actively looking for candidates to fill finance positions. This year’s career fair will be held virtually through Handshake. We will open the career fair from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm EST. \nThe first hour (4pm – 5pm)\, will be held exclusively for paid Finance Association members to meet with the employers.\n\n*** Careers in Business – Finance Association Fair is the 2nd of 5 Careers in Business Fairs taking place this fall. While this fair is geared towards Finance students\, all students and all majors are welcome to attend the fair. Students can register to attend 10 minute 1:1 sessions and/or 30 minute group sessions with employers. On the day of the fair\, students should log into Handshake utilizing Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox for the best connection. When logging in to 1:1 or group sessions\, please allow employers a time to enter the session before logging out. Employers will be hosting back-to-back sessions and may be running behind.
