DESCRIPTION:The Innovate State Speaker Series brings both emerging and accomplished Spartans back to campus for a fireside chat-style interview. These 60-minute sessions offer the chance for guests to share their perspectives on a wide array of topics like innovation\, startup life\, investments\, and career paths. Students get the opportunity to hear firsthand about the hard knocks of the entrepreneurship & innovation hustle to maintaining work/life balance. These are stories of success\, stories of failures\, and stories of uncommon will—and you do not want to miss them. \nInnovate State kicks-off at 6 p.m. ET and are free to the community. Events will be offered in a hybrid-format\, offering attendance options in-person & virtually. Early registration is highly encouraged. \nAbout our Speaker\nTodd Duckett\, CEO & Co-Founder of Duckett Enterprises \nTodd Duckett is the CEO of Duckett Enterprises\, the founder of New World Flood\, co-owner of Duckett Brothers Facilities Management\, and co-founder of The Black Success Network & Career Training Camp. He is from Kalamazoo\, MI. \nTodd is a former American football running back in the National Football League. He was a First Round draft pick by the Atlanta Falcons and also played for the Washington Redskins\, Detroit Lions\, and Seattle Seahawks. He played college football at Michigan State University\, where he studied Communications. Today\, simply known as Todd\, or “The Reignmaker\,” he has transformed into a dedicated father of four amazing children\, a loving husband\, an entrepreneur\, philanthropist\, motivational speaker\, and transition coach. SUMMARY:Careers in Business - Finance Association Fair VIRTUAL
DESCRIPTION:The annual Finance Association career fair allows members to meet and interact with company recruiters for internships and full-time positions. We host nearly fifty companies who are all actively looking for candidates to fill finance positions. This year’s career fair will be held virtually through Handshake. We will open the career fair from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm EST. \nThe first hour (4pm – 5pm)\, will be held exclusively for paid Finance Association members to meet with the employers.\n\n*** Careers in Business – Finance Association Fair is the 2nd of 5 Careers in Business Fairs taking place this fall. While this fair is geared towards Finance students\, all students and all majors are welcome to attend the fair. Students can register to attend 10 minute 1:1 sessions and/or 30 minute group sessions with employers. On the day of the fair\, students should log into Handshake utilizing Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox for the best connection. When logging in to 1:1 or group sessions\, please allow employers a time to enter the session before logging out. Employers will be hosting back-to-back sessions and may be running behind.

IBC’s Global Business Club together with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and U.S. China Business Council are organizing a two-part event series focused on how Michigan companies can tackle the Chinese market. Part 1 of the series will examine the U.S. China Business Council’s annual survey\, which takes a deep dive into the data and trends in the US-China relationship. We would also like to encourage businesses who wish to OR already do business in China to attend the meeting and give us some feedback on their experience. DESCRIPTION:Chang-Tai Hsieh is the Winkleread Professor of Economics and Chicago Booth\, an NBER Research Associate\, a Senior Fellow at the Bureau for Research in Economic Analysis of Development\, an Elected Member of Academia Sinica\, and the recipient of the Sun Ye-Fang award for research on the Chinese economy. His work bridges macroeconomics and applied economics with a focus on economic development and growth in Latin America and Asia. He will be presenting “Special Deals from Special Investors:  The Rise of State-Connected Private Owners in China” which studies ownership structures of Chinese firms and connections to state-owned firms.
