Begin with one of two 3-course fully online certificates designed for working professionals: Insights Design or Insights Analysis.

Complete one certificate, and then decide whether or when to continue. All the courses you complete will build toward your graduation with your full Michigan State University Master of Science in Marketing Research degree. All courses are fully online and available in an asynchronous format so you can complete the material according to your schedule.

Certificate Details

Certificate 1: Insights Design

  1. MKT 867: Sampling & Research Design, Summer 2022 (3 credits)
    • Introduction to the fundamental disciplines of experimental design, survey design, sampling, and data collection. Balance between traditional theoretical approach and hands-on application with industry tools such as Qualtrics.
  2. MKT 806: Fundamental Data Analytics, Fall 2022 (3 credits)
    • Overview of fundamental methods and techniques used to collect and analyze data in marketing research. In-depth introduction to data analysis and interpretation using Excel and SPSS.
  3. MKT 877: Emerging Research Design & Methods, Fall 2022 (3 credits)
    • Builds upon the foundational disciplines of MKT 867 by introducing approaches representing the ways in which innovative, and sometimes disruptive, techniques are transforming research design, sampling and data collection processes, and the overall marketing research business landscape.

Certificate 2: Insights Analysis

  1. MKT 806: Fundamental Data Analytics, Fall 2022 (3 credits)
    • Overview of fundamental methods and techniques used to collect and analyze data in marketing research. In-depth introduction to data analysis and interpretation using Excel and SPSS.
  2. MKT 819: Advanced & Predictive Data Analytics, Spring 2023 (3 credits)
    • Builds upon MKT 806 by introducing advanced quantitative statistical methods for marketing research. Uses SPSS and includes techniques such as multiple regression, logistic regression, time series, and neural network modeling.
  3. MKT 864: Emerging Data Management & Analytics, Summer 2023 (3 credits)
    • Builds upon the foundational disciplines of MKT 806 and MKT 819 by introducing approaches representing the ways in which innovative, and sometimes disruptive, techniques are transforming the approach to data management, analysis, interpretation, and visualization.
