The Public Accounting Report (PAR) rankings for 2009 were recently announced, with both the Broad School’s undergraduate and master’s accounting programs ranked 8th overall and the doctoral program ranked 13th in both “research” and “teaching.”
In addition, PAR rankings separated accounting programs into three categories this year based on the size of their faculty, and the Broad School’s program was placed in the “Group 1” faculty group, considering them to have a large-sized faculty. Within this category, the undergraduate program placed 8th and the graduate program placed 7th.
PAR rankings are based on a survey of over 1,900 accounting educators from across the country and seeks to measure the perceptions of accounting professors’ regarding the programs they feel most consistently turn out students capable of some day attaining partner status.
“These rankings continue to recognize that MSU’s accounting programs are perceived by our professional peers as among the best nationally,” says Sanjay Gupta, Russell E. Palmer Endowed Professor in Accounting and department chair.
