The Broad College’s reputation for excellence has been strengthened by U.S. News & World Report’s 2022 Best Online Master’s in Business Programs ranking, released today. This year, the college reached an all-time high, landing at No. 7 among U.S. public schools.

“This high ranking is yet another reaffirmation of our devotion to providing a cutting-edge learning experience for our students,” Glenn Hodges, director of the Master’s in Management, Strategy and Leadership program, said. The M.S. in MSL was the only MSU program in business included in this ranking from 2015 to 2021, consistently ranked among the top 25.

“Our excellent faculty and staff work hard to understand the needs of our students and to deliver the best program possible,” he continued. “However, it is our amazing, highly qualified students, spanning all industries, functions and organizational levels, who make the M.S. in MSL program a top training ground for executives from hundreds of top national and global organizations.”

This year, the ranking positions the Broad College at No. 12 overall and was expanded to include the Master’s in Marketing Research program, which offers a full-time online option, and Master’s in Healthcare Management, a newly launched program that graduated its first class of students last spring. The addition of these programs in the ranking allows for a broader evaluation of the online business offerings available to Spartans.

“We are happy to be recognized with a high ranking so soon after graduating our inaugural class in May 2021,” Michael Rip, director of the M.S. in Healthcare Management program, said. “This is a clear testament to all of our faculty and staff who have performed so well in getting this top-notch master’s degree operational so quickly. Our graduates will no doubt be able to leverage the program’s rankings when seeking promotion or a new position in the health care industry.”

The 2022 U.S. News & World Report ranking also puts the programs at No. 3 for Best Online Master’s in Business Programs for Veterans — the highest ranking MSU has ever achieved for this category. According to the ranking’s methodology, the best online programs for veterans must be ranked in the top half of schools in the Best Online Business ranking, must be certified for the GI Bill® and must have enrolled a “critical mass of students with military backgrounds.”

“The MSMR program truly delivers a life-changing and real-world experience for students to achieve the highest excellence in the marketing research, insights and analytics career paths. We are truly honored to be so highly regarded in this prestigious ranking,” Jessica Richards, director of the M.S. in Marketing Research program, said. Richards is also a military combat service veteran and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant in the Michigan Army National Guard during her eight years of honorable service.

“As a veteran, I had always dreamed of joining the MSU team to continue making a positive impact on the world and more specifically for veterans advancing their professional careers. MSU has exceptional veteran leaders and advisers who are directly paving the way in understanding, engaging, supporting and guiding military and prior service students to maximize their career potential.”

In addition, the college was well represented in several areas of concentration based on the overall rankings:

  • No. 1 for Human Resources Management
  • No. 2 for Health Care Administration
  • No. 2 for Leadership
  • No. 3 for Organizational Behavior
  • No. 5 for General Management
  • No. 5 for International Business
  • No. 5 for Marketing
