Mark Sellers, the founder and majority owner of BarFly Ventures (parent company of HopCat), joined FMI Senior Scholars for dinner on April 17, 2018, at his East Lansing restaurant. Mark (BA, Accounting, ’98) shared his career transitions that include being a musician; finance professional at GE Capital, Morningstar and his own hedge fund Sellers Capital; and now entrepreneurial restaurateur. He attributes his success with HopCat to identifying the right people, setting clear parameters, then letting his employees operate freely within those guidelines. A huge fan of Warren Buffett, Mark gave each of the students a copy of Buffett’s early shareholder letters dated 1957-70.
