Creativity is a foundational component of Full-Time MBA education at Broad, best exemplified in our Extreme Green series of academic seminars. Presented over 12 days of the 21-month MBA experience, these three-day workshops begin with teaching creative thinking through ideation, design and empathy. Then, this process moves through multiple opportunities for students to solve business problems, serve on an internal corporate innovation team and create an idea to disrupt a business market.
Our foundational seminar in the 2019–2020 academic year was keynoted by Jamie Gallagher, president and CEO of Faber-Castell USA. He shared his experiences and insights with the MBA Class of 2021, specifically discussing how to adapt and thrive in a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous world. His discussion inspired students to understand how creativity influences today’s business environments and how a foundation of trust is critical to sustaining and leveraging creativity in business. “We need to be comfortable operating in the gray,” Gallagher said.
The Class of 2021 and the MBA program are thankful to Gallagher for his time and continued support. We look forward to opportunities to continue to learn from his insights.
