Kathy Petroni, Deloitte/Michael Licata Professor of Accounting at the Broad School, was recently appointed to the Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council (FASAC), which is a part of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB).
FASAC advises the board on issues related to projects on its agenda, possible new agenda items, project priorities, procedural matters that may require the attention of FASB, and other matters as requested by the chairman. Members of FASAC are CEOs, CFOs, senior partners of public accounting firms, executive directors of professional organizations and senior members of the academic and analyst communities. FASB strives to establish and improve standards of financial accounting and reporting for the guidance and education of the public, including issuers, auditors and users of financial information.
As a member of the Accounting and Information Systems Department in the Broad School, Petroni’s research interests include financial reporting, and her research has been published in numerous journals including Journal of Accounting Research, The Accounting Review and Accounting Horizons among others. She received her PhD from the University of Michigan.
