This prestigious award celebrates Narayanan’s significant contributions to advancing knowledge and scholarly engagement in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), fostering collaborative partnerships, advocating for justice and equity, and creating transformative change within organizations.
Narayanan’s research, which spans social sustainability, gender and disability inclusion, and environmental sustainability, has reshaped the landscape of supply chain management by highlighting the crucial role of disability diversity in enhancing team performance, organizational agility, and productivity. His recent work, including influential articles in Manufacturing and Service Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, and the Journal of Operations Management, has expanded theoretical frameworks by integrating resource-based views and social identity theory, demonstrating the value of inclusive leadership and diverse teams in driving operational success.
Beyond his academic achievements, Narayanan is a dedicated disability advocate, organizing national conferences and creating podcasts to engage stakeholders on disability inclusion in the workplace. In 2021, he received the Michigan Rehabilitation Services Champion Award for his work improving employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities in partnership with the State of Michigan.
Narayanan has also made an impact in editorial roles, co-editing a landmark special issue on DEI in Production and Operations Management, which provided a comprehensive, interdisciplinary approach to integrating DEI principles in operations and supply chain management.
Supported by grants from the National Science Foundation, Michigan State University, and others, Narayanan’s pioneering work continues to influence the future of DEI research and practices in his field, marking him as a leader in shaping more inclusive and effective organizational systems.
