Ed Tillett is a strategic thinker, with an entrepreneurial mindset, a builder, connector, husband, father, mentor, and lifelong learner who has spent more than 20 years helping people and organizations grow.
He currently serves as the Director of the Multicultural Business Programs (MBP) at Michigan State University (MSU) where he leads a talented team to strategically deliver student success programming, and recruitment efforts rooted in advocating for and supporting the multicultural undergraduate student populations within the Broad College of Business. His commitment to innovation and driving change within the college has led to a variety of new initiatives, and the growth of the MBP team. In addition to this he ensures maintaining corporate, alumni, and community relationships to enhance programming and develop fundraising efforts.
Before becoming the Director of MBP, Ed Tillett started his career as a Community Director in Emmons and Akers Hall. He left MSU to become an Area Manager at the University of Texas at Austin overseeing all the operations and student community efforts of 6 residence halls. He returned to MSU serving as a Career Consultant for both the College of Nursing and Lyman Briggs College at the same time and then stepping into the role of Diversity Initiatives Coordinator for the Career Services Network at MSU.
Ed is an alumnus of Michigan State University (MSU), where he received his Bachelor of Science in Physiology through Lyman Briggs as a Pre-Med student, and his Master of Arts in Health Communications with a specialization in International Development.
His career has moved across sectors such as higher ed, business, athletics, philanthropy, talent development, community engagement, and organizational strategy. His philosophy and approach to life is that it should have purpose both professionally and personally. In both worlds you should have big ideas, surround yourself with good people, great conversations, and laughter. Ed is inspired by the energy that comes from building something meaningful with others and driven by the idea that you should always contribute positively to wherever you are, and whatever you do.
For fun, Ed spends his spare time volunteering in the community, mentoring, going to live concerts, traveling, playing sports recreationally, and most importantly spending time with his wife and three sons.
