DESCRIPTION:The Innovate State Speaker Series brings both emerging and accomplished Spartans back to campus for a fireside chat-style interview. Rieth\, Entrepreneur and CEO\, MFR Holdings\, LLC and FÜL Beverage\, LLC \nMark Rieth is a proven leader\, both as a corporate employee and as an entrepreneur. His business track record is one of hard work\, determination and innovative ideas backed by the leadership skills needed to compete and succeed in today’s ever changing business environment. \nMark is best known for his role with Atwater Brewery\, the company he first invested in and later purchased in its entirety. During his two decades at the helm\, Mark leveraged his automotive background to help Atwater grow into the fourth largest (of more than 350) craft breweries in Michigan\, producing and distributing dozens of beers\, plus award-winning hard seltzers\, spirits and four unique taphouse destinations. In addition to managing all aspects of the operation and brand and product development\, Mark was especially proud of Atwater’s deep commitment to\, and support of\, countless Detroit area non-profits\, educational institutions and civic groups as well as serving as a catalyst for redevelopment efforts in the city’s historic Rivertown district.

DESCRIPTION:About our Speaker\nDr. Marlo Rencher\, Director\, Technology-Based Programs\, TechTown Detroit \nMarlo Rencher for the majority of her career has been a jack of all trades. She has more than 25 years of professional experience in coaching\, researching and running startup companies. Rencher spent four years as the vice president of innovation\, entrepreneurship and diversity for Cleary University. \nRencher has founded or co-founded three tech startups and spoken at TedXDetroit\, Princeton University and SXSW. She has authored and co-authored several research studies\, including “Radical Inclusion in Tech\,” a study published by TechTown in 2019\, and the book “Hard Reset: Framing Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion as the New Normal\,” with Marlin Williams\, published earlier this year. \nRencher has supported 50 Black women tech founders through the National Science Foundation-funded STEEP program. Rencher currently serves as director of technology-based programs for TechTown Detroit. It’s her second stint with TechTown following a nearly five-year run as the company’s managing director from November 2004 to May 2009. \nRencher\, who has a bachelor’s in marketing from Michigan State University\, an MBA from the University of Michigan and a Ph.D. in business anthropology from Wayne State University\, has also developed entrepreneurial programs focused on inclusion\, innovation and tech-based entrepreneurship. \n

In addition to being the Co Editor in Chief of VIM Magazine and on the E-Board of MSU’s Entrepreneur Association\, Olivia is also the owner of two small businesses. In 2018 Olivia founded LIV in Style LCC\, a fashion and lifestyle blog and persona she has built throughout the years through social media\, selling handmade garments\, and creative writing. Her newest venture Soup N’ Sip was born at the start of 2022 and aims to provide people with a healthier alternative to fast food. Soup N’ Sip is spoonless soup for people on-the-go. Served in a to-go cup\, Soup N’ Sip is delicious\, nutritious\, fast\, and portable making it easily disguised in any classroom and distraction free while driving.\n\n\nHemkesh Agrawal is currently a senior computer science student at Michigan State University. He is the Co-Founder/CTO at UniServices. He works as a Developer intern at the Hatch where he makes apps/websites for select startups in the launch phase. He also works as a peer leader at the college of engineering and served as the Vice President of Spartan Hackers for over two years.\n\n  \n\nShreesha Maddur is a senior studying Computer Science and minoring in Entrepreneurship & Innovation. He is one of the founders of TalleyJobs\, a job board for students looking for internships/full-time jobs that are paid\, have few applicants\, and offer good benefits. As well as the Co-President of the Entrepreneurship Association\, a student-led organization open to all majors who are passionate about entrepreneurship and innovation.\n\n  \n\nAnna Reaume isa soon-to-be graduate from Michigan State University studying Marketing and minoring in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Anna is the first Venture Kitchen intern for the Burgess Institute. In her position\, she trains students to utilize the new kitchen\, equips and maintains the space\, and oversees student pop-ups in our Union store. She is also the co-founder and president of the International Samaritan Chapter of MSU\, an RSO working to inform and educate MSU students about the communities IS serves.

Early registration is highly encouraged. \nAbout our Speakers\nBrittney Urich\, UX Designer\, Amazon Business \nBrittney is a UX Designer who specializes in helping others understand content strategy and implement it on design projects. She is passionate about crafting digital experiences that solve problems in a human-centered\, empathetic way. As a champion for integrating content strategy and user experience design\, Urich delivers presentations and interactive workshops about the two disciplines. She also speaks/hosts interactive workshops revolving around experience design and content strategy. \nDuring Brittney’s time at MSU\, she helped co-found a company called Conector to help engage college students with their communities through events. Throughout building Conector\, Brittney helped grow it to six figures while establishing more than 100 partnerships. Urich enjoys exploring national parks and hiking in Colorado with her dog Izzy. \nJosh Ogundu\, Product Operations Lead\, TikTok \nJosh Ogundu is a product operations lead at TikTok. In his role\, he seeks to help both the business and the product run better. Previous to TikTok\, he worked in product management at media and communication tool companies. He got into tech by founding LykeMe\, an identity- and interest-based social network he founded while studying economics at Michigan State. \nAt USC\, where he attended business school\, he formed deep ties to the Los Angeles tech ecosystem. He became a valued mentor at Techstars and a scout for a venture capital firm\, Indie.Vc.

He worked his way through Macy’s for over two decades\, working within four divisions and finishing with his final position as GMM/EVP Macy’s Corporate in product merchandising. \nGaining new experiences\, Rob became GMM/EVP at Victoria’s Secret direct. He was the Children’s Global Chief Product Officer for Nike\, Levi’s Jordan\, Hurley\, and Converse with Haddad Brands. Rob mentors numerous fashion brands and designers\, leads the CSR committee as a member of Steve Madden Ltd’s Board of Directors and raises critical funds for LGBTQIA+ organizations. He’s the former Board Chair for The Hetrick-Martin Institute\, which empowers\, educates\, and advocates on behalf of LGBTQIA+ youth worldwide and has also served on the board of directors for Athlete Ally\, eliminating homophobia and transphobia in sports. \nToday\, Rob leads and manages The Phluid Project\, a leader in gender-free fashion. Phluid\, joining a global movement of freedom\, authenticity\, and self-expression\, leads with values\, a powerful community\, and a fearlessness to challenge the status quo. Phluid thoughtfully expands into new spaces where they can offer insight\, education\, and impact\, including GET Phluid (gender-expansive training) and The Phluid Phoundation\, a nonprofit supporting the most at-risk members of the LGBTQIA+ community (trans women of color and homeless queer youth). \nRob lives in NYC with his husband\, Rod Grozier\, and his dog\, Jackson.

He has held two prestigious entrepreneurship fellowships with Invest Detroit Ventures and Venture for America. He has a background in building digital marketplaces\, where he most recently worked as a Product Manager at Rocket Homes\, helping to launch their mobile app experience. Ashton is passionate about sports and technology. While establishing his company\, Athlytic\, Ashton was at the forefront of the NCAA’s name\, image\, and likeness ruling.

Early registration is highly encouraged. \nAbout our Speakers:\n\nAvery Tilley is a junior at Michigan State University pursuing dual degrees in Fisheries & Wildlife Management and Molecular Genetics & Genomics with a minor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. In 2020\, he founded Branching Out\, Inc.\, a passion project born from his love for agriculture education and sustainability. While still in its growth stage\, Branching Out seeks to become a supplier of fully customizable\, grafted fruit trees yielding organic peaches\, plums\, lemons\, and more\, all from the same tree growing comfortably in your living room. Avery hopes to continue to develop Branching Out into the next most-wanted houseplant and will pursue a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine after graduating from MSU next Spring.\nCharlotte Bachelor is a Junior studying Professional and Public Writing with a Minor in African and African American Studies. Charlotte’s passion for Disability Rights and Accessibility led her to create the Detroit Accessibility Project\, which serves as an innovative solution to the lack of accessibility standards in Downtown Detroit venues.\nChristian Nderu is a sophomore at Michigan State University\, majoring in Experience Architecture. Christian has three years of experience as a Graphic and UI/UX Designer and is incredibly passionate about working on startup projects\, having helped provide many growing companies with their branding\, marketing\, and digital product design needs over the years. Being the Marketing and Communications Director of the MSU Entrepreneurship Association and working for the Burgess Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship\, he is also heavily involved in the entrepreneurship community at MSU. He is currently working on his first startup in the Burgess Discovery program.\nMadison Marsh is a Junior Honors student studying Environmental Economics and Management with a minor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. She is a student founder and author who created The Cut MI\, LLC\, which encompasses The Cut Cookbook and multiple social media platforms. Madison is also the Vice President of Women in Entrepreneurship. She is interning for Pretzilla®\, a national bread manufacturer\, designing their new website and social media platform. Marsh also works closely with the Burgess Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. She has had the opportunity to learn from incredible MSU alumni.
