Spaces Still Open for Detroit Executive Forum

There’s still time to register for the 2016 MSU Detroit Executive Forum, to be held Thursday, October 6, 5:30–8 p.m. at the Detroit Athletic Club. Bob Chapek (MBA Marketing ’84), chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, will be the featured speaker. Registration is $55 per person, and attendance is open to all Spartans, their clients, and their colleagues.

Alumna to Lead Program Coaching Women for Highest Workplace Achievements

Julie Fasone-Holder (BA Business Administration ’75) will teach women how to use their own voices to improve their positions in the workplace through the Executive Leadership for Women program, which kicks off October 11. Attendees are mentored in areas such as negotiations, executive voice, self-promotion, resilience, and network building. Spaces are still available.

Supply Chain Talent Summit
MRIVCC to Host Supply Chain Talent Summit

The Midland Research Institute for Value Chain Creation (MRIVCC) will host the Supply Chain Talent Summit Tuesday, October 25, 8:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. in the Midland Country Club Ballroom. Speakers from APICS, Bayer HealthCare, Dow Chemical, Ingersoll Rand, and Kelly Services, as well as the Broad College, will share best practices, discuss changing dynamics, learn about supply- and demand-side megatrends, and prepare for the future of demand, development, and deployment in the industry. The event will be preceded by a 7:30 a.m. continental breakfast and a networking cocktail reception Monday, October 24, 6–8 p.m. at Midland’s H Hotel. Admission to all of these events is free, but registration is required.

No. 1 in Supply Chain, Top 15 Public B-School in Latest U.S. News Ranking

The Broad College ranked among the nation’s top public business schools in the 2017 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges ranking of undergraduate programs. The college also topped the supply chain management/logistics specialty ranking for the sixth year in a row.

Audited returns over 15 years showed that creating a stock portfolio based on customer satisfaction data achieved cumulative returns of 518 percent, far outpacing the 31 percent increase for the commonly used Standard & Poor’s 500 Index over the same time period.

MSU Takes Gold for Veteran Support

The Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency has recognized MSU with gold status in the Veteran-Friendly School program. The program recognizes institutions of higher education for their dedication to student veterans and dependents using their GI Bill and other educational benefits.

Spartans Have New Options for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Experiences

A new program allows all MSU undergraduates to take knowledge gained in the classroom and apply it to firsthand experiences—and be recognized on their transcripts for the experiential work. These “E&I Experiences” allow students to add entrepreneurial content to their coursework, with oversight from a faculty member, and design experiences to suit their ambitions.

Meat Lab Dishes Up Tailgate Treats

The MSU Meat Lab will be open four hours prior to kickoff on football Saturdays for walk-up sales of grill-ready meats, including various flavors of franks, brats, and hamburger patties. Advance orders are also available.
