MSU Master's in Business Analytics Expands for Spring 2027

Michigan State University’s Eli Broad College of Business is expanding enrollment options for its Master of Science in Business Data Science & Analytics (MSBDSA) program with a new Spring 2027 start, giving prospective students more flexibility in when and how they pursue a graduate degree in data and analytics.

New Spring 2027 Start Offers Online Flexibility for Working Professionals

Beginning in January 2027, students will have the opportunity to start the fully asynchronous, 100% online program in the spring and choose between an accelerated four-semester path or a customized course plan designed around their individual schedules and goals.

The new Spring 2027 enrollment option provides an additional pathway for professionals who want to build their expertise in data science and analytics without putting their careers or other responsibilities on hold. Students who follow the accelerated pathway can complete the 30-credit degree in 16 months across four semesters, while those who need additional flexibility can work with an advisor to develop a custom academic timeline.

The addition of a spring start builds on the program’s existing flexibility. Students interested in a MS in Business Data Science & Analytics can also begin in Fall 2027 or future semesters, with the option to complete the program in 20 months across five semesters or follow an alternative customized course plan.

The MS in Business Data Science & Analytics curriculum is designed to prepare students to lead in an increasingly data-driven business environment. And, no matter which version of the program students choose, the courses combine big data, analytical skills, data driven decisions, statistical modeling, machine learning, network analytics, artificial intelligence governance and analytics communication. Students also gain experiential opportunities to apply their skills using live datasets and business-focused projects.

In addition to the master’s degree, students earn three transcriptable graduate certificates integrated into the program. Students complete credentials in Data Decision-Making and Advanced Business Analytics Applications through the core curriculum, then choose a third certificate pathway in either Business Essentials for Leaders or Organizational Leadership & Strategy.

More Opportunities to Join a Top-Ranked Business Data Science & Analytics Program

The combination of technical and business-focused learning has helped MSU’s analytics programs earn national recognition, including a No. 7 ranking among public institutions in the U.S. for Master’s in Business Analytics by the QS World University Rankings 2026 and a No. 10 ranking among public institutions by TFE Times 2026. For students, that means the flexibility of the program does not come at the expense of a highly regarded academic experience. Whether they are looking to transition into a new analytics career, move into a leadership role, or build new technical expertise while remaining with their current employer, students can pursue the degree in a way that aligns with their professional goals.

Spring 2027 Business Data Science & Analytics Master’s Applications Are Open

For students interested in beginning their MS in Business Data Science & Analytics in Spring 2027, the early application deadline is October 1, 2026, and the program may continue accepting applicants through late November and early December.

Prospective students can explore the business analytics graduate program, admissions requirements to learn more about the program and determine which enrollment timeline best fits their goals.

The new spring start offers an opportunity for students who are ready to take the next step in their data analytics careers to begin their graduate education sooner, with the flexibility to make the program work for them.
