The Broad College has launched the Broad Enterprise Leader Scholarship to serve its Executive MBA students. The scholarship will award a total of $40,000 to selected eligible students from the class of 2022.
The Broad Enterprise Leader Scholarship recognizes individuals who strive to make a significant impact on their organization through teamwork, collaboration and ethical leadership. Students accepted into the Executive MBA class of 2022 who are not receiving full financial support or education reimbursement from their employer are eligible to apply.
The scholarship is part of a larger focus on enterprise leadership for the Executive MBA at MSU. In 2019, the Broad Enterprise Leadership program was created to integrate a leadership development experience throughout the entire curriculum. The program prepares students to identify and respond to issues, lead across an organization, make business decisions in an ethical way and make a deeper and broader impact.
“Enterprise Leadership at Broad is many things: it’s a holistic framework, a transformative journey, a series of hands-on courses and a leadership development program that provides tools and insights for professional growth,” said Cheri DeClercq, assistant dean for MBA programs. “We’ve doubled down on the fundamental values of our program — collaborative, ethical and impactful leadership — and intentionally enhanced and integrated these in a way that helps our students demonstrate their growth and development.”
The Executive MBA program is designed for working professionals to advance their careers over a 20-month, weekend-format program. It is intended for people who are interested in enhancing their current working role or exploring new professional horizons without ever leaving the workforce.
In applications for the Broad Enterprise Leader Scholarship, Executive MBA students must demonstrate a history of leadership and a desire to transform themselves and their organization through their time at MSU. Special consideration will be given to candidates working for small and mid-sized organizations and/or industries that are positioned for growth or disruption.
“We’ve often found that small, growing organizations don’t have robust talent development funding models, yet they are also poised to fully leverage the knowledge and insights that are gained by employees learning through our program,” DeClercq said. “We want to make a difference in our region by intentionally helping these organizations and their leaders move forward.”
The application period is ongoing until May 1, 2020. A scholarship committee will make recommendations for appropriate scholarships based on a holistic review of application material. Student selections and scholarship announcements will be made in mid-May.
