The Native American and Hispanic Business Students held their sixth Annual Latino College Day on Friday, October 26, 2018.

Over 80 Latinx students from Wyoming High School in Grand Rapids and Everett and Sexton High Schools in Lansing attended the NAHBS one day program designed to expose Latinx high school students to college, business, and professional skills that they can use in everyday life.

Members of NAHBS put on workshops for participants that included math and writing engagement activities and proper techniques for interpersonal communication and networking.  Participants also received a presentation by Multicultural Business Programs Anne Crain on Preparing for College.

The faculty advisor for NAHBS, Dr. Kevin Leonard, was extremely pleased with the turnout noting it was the largest group of Latinx students to attend the program since the inception of Latino College Day in 2013.

This outreach program is just one of two NAHBS engages in each.  They are also in the process of putting together their Native American Community Outreach Program (NACOP) with the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians for April 2019.
