MICHELLE WINTERFIELD
BA FINANCE ’17

Michelle was the co-founder and co-CEO of Tandem, a finance app that helps the modern household manage and grow wealth. Tandem promotes equitable involvement and transparency from the earliest point in a relationship, and since launching in 2023, has helped users manage $200M+ on its platform. Tandem was acquired in 2025 by Reseda Group, a wholly owned credit union service organization of Michigan State Federal Credit Union, where Michelle now serves as the VP of Marketing. The acquisition represents a key step toward creating an end-to-end family banking ecosystem — one that helps credit union members graduate from individual accounts to joint accounts, and eventually, to tools that support dependent and multi-generational households.

Prior to founding Tandem, Michelle worked as a private equity investor at Wind Point Partners in Chicago and Main Street Capital in Houston. She is also a personal finance influencer and manages an online community of more than 700,000 followers across her Instagram and TikTok profiles. She is a member of the Forbes Advisor Banking Advisory Board, Financial Markets Institute Board at Michigan State University, and was recently named to the Crain’s Detroit 40 under 40 list.

Her work has been covered by the NBC “Today” show, Wall Street Journal, Forbes, USA Today, People magazine, Axios, TechCrunch and others. She graduated from Michigan State University in 2017 with high honors with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance, and was also a member of the Varsity Women’s Soccer Team, Honors College and Financial Markets Institute.
