The Broad College of Business was ranked among the nation’s top 10 undergraduate and master’s programs in accounting by the 2018 TaxTalent survey.
TaxTalent provides a ranking of tax accounting educational programs exclusively from the perspective of those who hire in the field. The U.S. tax professionals surveyed come from both corporate in-house tax departments and professional service firms.
“We are proud to be recognized as one of the top 10 undergraduate and graduate tax programs, as voted on by tax employers,” said Chris Hogan, chair of the Department of Accounting and Information Systems.
The annual survey provides tax employers with the opportunity to vote for the best U.S. undergraduate, graduate, and legal programs. With 370 total respondents, participants were asked to select up to five schools per type of program that they hold in the highest regard when hiring candidates.
The survey ranks the following types of programs:
- Undergraduate Accounting
- Master of Science – Taxation (MS Tax)
- Master of Accounting (MAcc)
- Master of Accounting – Taxation Specializations (MAcc Tax)
- MBA in Taxation (MBA Tax)
- Juris Doctor – Taxation (JD Tax)
- LL.M. – Taxation (LL.M. Tax)
Broad was ranked 9th among undergraduate accounting programs, making the top 10 list for the second year. The MS in Accounting ranked 6th and its tax specialization ranked 4th – and both have ranked among the top 10 programs for the past three years.
“The TaxTalent survey validates for current and prospective students in the tax track of the MS in Accounting program that professionals who make the hiring decisions in tax departments of public accounting firms and corporations value highly the skills (technical, analytical, and interpersonal) we provide to students in our tax courses. The survey also validates for the faculty that our curriculum provides that tool kit to prepare our students for the tax function of the future,” stated Ed Outslay, professor of accounting and information systems.
