The Michigan State University Department of Supply Chain Management is pleased to announce that professors David Closs and Tobias Schoenherr were among a select group of MSU educators and researchers to receive 2013 All-University Awards.
The honorees received their awards at the MSU Awards Convocation, which was held on Feb. 12, 2013, at the Wharton Center.
Dr. Closs received the Distinguished Faculty Award, which is given to no more than ten faculty members each year for their contributions, including teaching, advising, research, public service, and other activities. Schoenherr received the Teacher-Scholar Award, which recognizes professors that are early in their careers.
Closs, the John H. McConnell Chair of Business Administration and chairperson of the Department of Supply Chain Management, has been a faculty member of the Broad College for more than 30 years, in addition to receiving his MBA and PhD in marketing, logistics, and management science from the college. He is an author and presenter of world-class logistics and supply chain capabilities and applications and took part in a 2012 White House supply chain panel on sustainability.
Assistant professor Tobias Schoenherr joined the Department of Supply Chain Management at the Broad College in 2008. His research focuses on strategic supply management, including strategic sourcing, leveraging the supply chain for competitive advantage, and global operations strategy, with recent research on reshoring. Schoenherr received the 2012 John D. and Dortha J. Withrow Endowed Emerging Scholar Award from the college.
