Admission Criteria

Students may start the program in fall or spring. Admission decisions are competitive and will be made on a rolling basis. The minimum requirement for consideration is a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution with a recommended minimum grade-point-average of a 3.0. However, admission decisions are made holistically considering the applicant’s full application including letters of recommendation, the applicant’s statement of objectives, work experience, and TOEFL and IELTS scores if relevant.

Steps to Apply

  1. Start your online application to the M.S. in Accounting and Data Analytics (MSADA) program
    • The application can be saved and edited so additional documents can be uploaded: Graduate School Application
    • Note: Within the application “Other Information” section, select the “Major Preference” drop-down and choose “Accounting and Data Analytics (Online Program) (Masters) to apply to this program.
  2. Complete the MSADA Application Checklist
    • Complete the MS in Accounting and Data Analytics Checklist and upload to your application: MSADA Checklist
  3. Recommenders complete the MSADA Recommendation Form in lieu of application system letters (only two letter forms are required, not three)
    • Please follow the steps below regarding application system recommendation letters:
      • The application system will state that applications need three recommendation letters with their application which is not correct as only two are required, applicants for the MSADA program should instead follow the process below:
        • Have two recommenders download the MSADA Recommendation Form.
        • Applicants should then enter the email addresses of only two recommenders into the application system. The MSADA program will waive the third letter on the back end.
          • Note: If the application system requires the email address of a third recommender to progress, applicants can enter in msada@broad.msu.edu to have the third letter waived.
          • The recommender should then upload the MSADA Recommendation Form to the email they receive from the application system.
          • Note: Recommenders should complete the MSADA Recommendation Form in lieu of written letters; formal written letters are not needed to apply for this program. Questions can be sent to msada@broad.msu.edu.
  4. Submit your application and pay the application fee.
    • After you complete the first part of the graduate school application, you will gain access to the Graduate Education Student Portal. This allows you to check your application status, send e-messages to the department, upload any additional documents and request and check the status of your letters of application.
    • You can also attach unofficial transcripts to the online application.
