The Broad College of Business is pleased to announce several new academic leadership appointments, reflecting its continued commitment to advancing ethical business practices, supporting faculty success, and innovating in graduate education.

Anjana Susarla, the Omura-Saxena Professor in Responsible AI, has been appointed faculty director of the Center for Ethical and Socially Responsible Leadership (CESRL), effective September 15, 2025, through May 15, 2027.
CESRL plays a vital role in advancing the Broad College’s strategic commitment to principled leadership by supporting research and scholarship that bridge theory and practice in ethics and social responsibility. As faculty director, Susarla will work closely with Beth Hammond, the Center’s managing director to implement the center’s mission and strategy, engaging faculty across academic units, fostering curricular and co-curricular innovation, developing long-term plans and expanding CESRL’s visibility across the college and beyond.
Susarla’s scholarship on artificial intelligence, digital platforms, and social responsibility has earned wide recognition, and she is a respected voice in both academic and public conversations about the impact of technology on society. She brings energy and perspective that will help advance CESRL’s role as a hub for research, teaching, and engagement around ethical business leadership.
Susarla succeeds Sriram Narayanan, the Eli Broad Professor in Supply Chain Management, who will be recognized as the founding faculty director of CESRL, while continuing to support the center as he assumes his new role as Chair of the Department of Supply Chain Management.
“I am honored to take on this role and help expand the center’s impact across the college and wider business community,” said Susarla. “Ethical and socially responsible leadership has never been more important, and I look forward to working with faculty, students, and partners to integrate these values into research, teaching, and practice.”
Chris Hogan has been appointed faculty excellence advocate (FEA) for the Broad College

Supported by the Provost’s Office, the FEA serves as a strategic partner to advance faculty and academic specialist success across ranks and appointment types.
In this role, Hogan will promote fair and transparent processes for faculty recruitment, development, retention, advancement, and recognition, while also offering confidential guidance to support a collegial, high-performing academic environment. She succeeds Matthew Anderson, who served as the college’s first FEA while also serving as associate dean for diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Broad College extends its gratitude to Anderson for his longstanding and dedicated leadership in building a strong foundation for faculty excellence.
Hogan brings extensive leadership experience to this role, having served as interim senior associate dean for faculty and doctoral programs (2022–2024), chair of the Department of Accounting and Information Systems (2017–2022), and Ph.D. program co-director in AIS. Beyond Broad, she has also served in leadership positions within the American Accounting Association, including as president of the auditing section. A noted scholar in auditing, Hogan’s research examines regulation, estimates, internal controls, and earnings announcement reliability with publications in leading journals.
“I am honored to serve as faculty excellence advocate and to continue strengthening the environment in which our faculty and academic specialists thrive,” said Hogan. “Broad’s reputation rests on the excellence of its people, and I look forward to working with colleagues across the college and university to ensure we have the support, transparency, and community needed to reach our highest potential.”
