General Motors hosted a fun and unique event for female finance students called “Painting With a Twist”. This was the theme of GM’s finance unit’s first-ever all female recruiting event at MSU – an informal yet informative way for Finance students to learn about the many full-time and internship programs available with this iconic local automaker, while enjoying some light appetizers/beverages!
Along with learning more about the company and meeting some of the women on the GM Finance recruiting team, each student got to paint a pre-selected picture, the theme of which was the city of Detroit. Lisa Beck, Finance Director (U.S. Sales Operations) for GM said of the event, “It was such a great time getting to know all the students in such a fun setting. They all seemed to really enjoy it and many said they didn’t know there were that many women in finance at MSU and were grateful to meet each other!”.
One of the students mentioned that she has attended many company/corporate meetings and info sessions through MSU, but she had never met a company that puts as strong of an emphasis on women working in finance, or even in business in general (especially in the automotive industry), which is one of the reasons she believes General Motors is so remarkable.
