Biography Kirt C. Butler specializes in international and corporate finance and global strategy. He joined the MSU faculty in 1985 after completing his doctorate in Finance at MSU. He also holds a M.S. degree in Computer Science from the College of Engineering and a B.A. in Psychology from the Honors College at MSU.
Professor Butler's research has appeared in a variety of academic and practitioner journals including the Journal of Finance, Journal of Accounting Research, Journal of Portfolio Management, Financial Analysts Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of International Money and Finance, and the Journal of Applied Finance. His academic research has been profiled in Time and Money magazines, on the CNN and CNBC websites, and elsewhere. His best-selling Multinational Finance textbook was most recently published in 2016 and is in its 6th edition (paperback ISBN 978-1-1192-1968-2 or Adobe PDF ISBN 978-1-1192-1971-2). He won the College of Business Withrow Teacher/Scholar Award in 2001, Excellence in Teaching awards from the Department of Finance in 2003, 2014, & 2017, and the Executive MBA Professor of Excellence award in 2019.
