Dr. Irem Kiyak is the Associate Director of Michigan State University's International Business Center, a role she has held since 2001. Her responsibilities include oversight of daily operations, supervision, budgeting, project development, and implementation. Kiyak has experience in project management; she worked as a project manager in the database development and management consulting industry. She is also the Treasurer of Academy of International Business. Dr. Irem Kiyak has a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Bogazici University, Istanbul, Turkey. As Associate Director of IBC, she works as principal administrator for fiscal and personnel matters, preparing budgets and monitoring expenditures, administering grant awards, and coordinating contracts. Her responsibilities include managing the externally funded outreach and research center with diverse constituents including funding agencies, faculty, students, and the business community. She supervises fulltime staff and graduate assistants. She manages projects such as conference/seminar organization, international business research, and information technology initiatives. In addition, she prepares periodic activity reports, grant proposals, and conducted budget analysis. In her AIB role, Dr. Kiyak works as principal administrator for fiscal matters, preparing budgets and monitoring expenditures, administering awards, and coordinating contracts. She manages AIB's budget and expenditures of funds exceeding 1.8 million. Dr. Kiyak has an MBA in Materials and Logistics Management from the Eli Broad Graduate School of Management at Michigan State University, and Ph.D. from the School of Packaging at Michigan State University. She has served as a project coordinator for Title VI, Part B grants since 1999.
