The Broad College of Business participates in a wide range of rankings each year—undergraduate, graduate, and more—and to bring them all together for a quick review, the college has compiled a list of all the ranking results for the year.

Highlights include ranking No. 1 undergraduate and No. 2 graduate in supply chain management (U.S. News & World Report), No. 1 in MBA job satisfaction (Forbes), No. 3 in placement success among U.S. public MBAs (Financial Times), No. 11 among public universities for all undergraduate programs, and No. 15 worldwide for EMBA graduates’ career progression (Economist).

Undergraduate Programs

U.S. News & World Report once again ranked Broad’s undergraduate business programs No. 11 among public universities—and no. 1 in supply chain management for the fifth year in a row. Several other specialties were among the top 30 in the nation.

Full-Time MBA Program

All five major rankings of full-time MBA programs—Bloomberg Businessweek, the Economist, Financial Times, Forbes, and U.S. News & World Report—ranked Broad’s Full-Time MBA Program among the top 20 public programs.

In its placement success category, which reflects graduates’ evaluations of the effectiveness of the career services they received as MBA students, Financial Times ranked Broad No. 8 globally and No. 3 among U.S. public programs. For the past four years, the Broad MBA has been ranked among the top three U.S. public programs in this category.

The U.S. News & World Report ranking continued Broad’s 13-year streak of being ranked No. 2 in supply chain management—since this specialty ranking debuted in 2004. After this ranking’s release, a Poets & Quants article noted that Broad had the greatest increase in GMAT scores (30 points) among the top 50 business schools.

Forbes released its biennial ranking, which focuses on return on investment. Despite the graduates being surveyed having graduated during the economic downturn, Broad’s 3.6 years to payback maintained its position as fastest in the Big Ten and second fastest overall to repay the costs of seeking an MBA degree. A second portion of the Forbes ranking, its list of “Business Schools with the Most Satisfied MBA Graduates,” was released in December, indicating Broad grads are the No. 4 most satisfied MBA grads—and No. 1 in current job satisfaction.

The Broad Full-Time MBA was ranked by the Economist for the first time, coming in at No. 2 globally for percentage increase on pre-MBA salary and No. 3 for the percentage of graduates who received a job offer within three months of graduation. Broad was among the top 20 programs internationally for “open[ing] new career opportunities”—No. 4 among U.S. public programs.

The Broad MBA moved up from No. 26 to No. 7 in Bloomberg Businessweek’s annual student survey, which focused on “the class of 2015’s take on academics, career services, campus climate, and more,” and came in at No. 6 in its new placement rate category.

These results led to Broad being ranked No. 25 overall in the 2015 Poets & Quants U.S. MBA ranking, a composite ranking based on these five most influential full-time MBA rankings, in November.

Executive MBA Program

Two major global publications—the Economist and Financial Times—ranked the Broad Executive MBA Program among the top 15 public programs in the U.S. and highlighted Broad’s leadership in career outcomes.

The Economist ranking placed Broad among the top 15 programs globally for the career progression of graduates—and No. 11 for the percentage of alumni who have been promoted or grown their companies since graduation.

And for the third year in a row, Broad was among the top five U.S. public institutions for career progress after earning their degrees in the Financial Times ranking.

Professional Master’s Programs

Specialized master’s programs are still rather new to the business school world, yet a few rankings have emerged to look at these programs.

Broad’s Master of Science in Management, Strategy, and Leadership program ranked No. 65 in the U.S. News & World Report ranking of best online graduate business programs (excluding MBA programs), No. 34 among public programs—and No. 55 on their list of best online non-MBA business programs for veterans.

Meanwhile, The Financial Engineer (TFE Times) ranked Broad’s Master of Science in Business Analytics and Master of Science in Market Research programs each as a top-ten program in its respective field.

Departments

Additionally, a few rankings addressed the work of specific departments of the college.

The dominance of the Department of Supply Chain Management was celebrated as the annual SCM World survey of hundreds of supply chain executives around the world placed MSU as the No. 1 university they look to as a marker of talent.

The School of Hospitality Business was ranked the No. 1 public hospitality business school (No. 2 overall) in the U.S. by website SuccessfulStudent, looking at academics, diversity, reputation, hands-on experience students get and internship/career placement opportunities.

Broad was ranked no. 2 in managerial accounting and no. 6 for accounting research on all topics in the latest Brigham Young University accounting research rankings (dated 2014), looking at journal contributions over the past 20 years using all methods. Two faculty members from the department—Karen Sedatole and Ranjani Krishnan—were ranked No. 1 and No. 4 (respectively) in managerial accounting over the past six years of publications.

The Department of Management ranked No. 3 in research productivity by contributions to the field’s top eight journals in Texas A&M University’s 2010–14 Aggregated Management Department Productivity Rankings.
