Jeffrey Cohu, Ph.D. is a Professor of Practice in Strategic Management with the Eli Broad College of Business. His research interests and professional expertise include strategic management, entrepreneurship, international business, human resource management, non-profit management, fundraising strategy, learning organizations, micro-financing, compensation systems, workplace testing, expatriate selection and training and development. Holding several advanced degrees and certifications, Dr. Cohu is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the Academy of Management, the Academy of International Business and the Society of Human Resource Management.
Outside the classroom, Dr. Cohu heads his consulting group and has an active lifetime of service in third-world humanitarian and economic development operations in many countries, including Guyana, Panama, Haiti and other Caribbean islands. He also serves on the board of several non-profit organizations.
Greg Gulick, Ph.D. currently serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Michigan State University College of Law and has served as an Assistant Professor with the Division of Public Health in the Michigan State University College of Medicine. His research focuses on the intersection of healthcare, law, and healthcare financing and access issues, law and technology, and global health issues. He has taught and developed courses in mHealth, eHealth in public health, public administration, telemedicine, health law and healthcare fraud and abuse. He has also published several articles on telemedicine and the law and contributed a chapter on the subject of telemedicine and public health to a textbook on nutrition and public health.
Professor Gulick is also an attorney with extensive experience in the healthcare and health industries, working with Fortune 50 insurance companies and large health systems on regulatory compliance, healthcare policy matters and transactional matters. He specializes in federal and state healthcare reform issues (such as the PPACA), employee benefit statutes and regulatory compliance and has an interest in international health issues and comparative health systems. He currently works as an attorney for a healthcare organization in Michigan. In addition to a law degree, he also holds Master’s degrees in Health Administration and Business Administration.
Ahmet H. Kirca, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of International Business and Marketing at the Department of Marketing, Broad College of Business. He received his Ph.D. degree in International Business from the University of South Carolina, Columbia. Prior to joining MSU in 2006, he worked at George Washington University in Washington, DC. Professor Kirca serves as the Director of International Business Center and MSU-CIBER. Also, he is the Co-Director of the Doctoral Program in the Department of Marketing.His research focuses on international business and marketing strategy with a special emphasis on firm internationalization, innovation, organizational culture and applied meta-analysis. He has published articles in major academic journals including the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Marketing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Management, Journal of Retailing, International Journal of Research in Marketing and Journal of World Business, among others. Kirca teaches international business/marketing, marketing research and marketing strategy in undergraduate, MBA and Ph.D. level courses. He also offers workshops and seminars on applied meta-analytic techniques. Kirca had extensive industry experience in textile and tourism industries in Turkey before joining the academia. A native of Turkey, Kirca fluently speaks English, French, and Italian languages. He also has working knowledge of Spanish and Japanese
Bonnie J. Knutson, Ph.D. is a people watcher. Widely known as an authority on emerging lifestyle trends, the customer experience, brand positioning, and creative marketing strategies, she works with organizations that want to understand and take advantage of changing consumer demands. A professor in The School of Hospitality Business, Michigan State University, her work has been featured in publications such as The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, as well as on CNN and NPR. She has had countless articles appear in industry publications and academic publications, on business blogs, authored M3:Membership Marketing in the Millennium and is editor-emeritus of the Journal of Hospitality and Leisure Marketing. With her wit and entertaining style, Dr. Knutson is a frequent speaker at seminars, workshops, and industry meetings in both the United States and abroad – including hospitality, financial, automotive, retail, and healthcare industries. She has been a featured presenter at the American Marketing Association, National Restaurant Association Show, the New York Hotel Show, Club Managers Association of America International, National Automated Merchandise Association, Air Force Club Managers, and Meeting Professionals International. Dr. Knutson has been named a MSU Distinguished Faculty. She has also been honored with the MSU Distinguished Alumni Award and the Hospitality Business Alumni Association Lifetime Academic Achievement Award. She was given the esteemed Withrow Award for teaching and research in the Broad College of Business and has won the prestigious Golden Key Teaching Excellence Award for outstanding instruction and dedication to students. In addition, she was presented with The Director’s Award from the Wharton Center and the Excellence in Achievement Award from Boardroom Magazine. The Advertising Education Foundation named Dr. Knutson a National Scholar. Dr. Knutson is the MSU Faculty Athletic Representative to the Big Ten and NCAA. She also was a member of the Presidential Search Committee, served on the Presidential Transition Team, and was on a MSU Capital Campaign sub-committee. She is on the Board of the Greater Lansing Convention & Visitors’ Bureau Foundation, serving as Treasurer. She is a past-president of the Advisory Council for the Wharton Center for the Performing Arts and the Michigan State University Alumni Association National Board; she continues to serve on both. Dr. Knutson has also served twice as Interim Director of The School of Hospitality Business
Steven Korzeniewski, Ph.D. in his early career Dr. Korzeniewski led Michigan’s Maternal & Child Health Epidemiology Section and later the Department of Applied Epidemiology at a healthcare quality improvement organization. In 2011 he was appointed to the faculty of Wayne State University (WSU) OM’s obstetrics department where he served as Director of the Perinatal Epidemiology Unit. In 2019 Dr. Korzeniewski joined the Department of Family Medicine and Public Health Sciences at WSU. He currently leads the epidemiology section of the Biostatistics and Epidemiology Research Design (BERD) core out of the Integrative Biosciences Center at WSU. In 2020, Dr. Korzeniewski joined Michigan State University Healthcare Management team to provide instruction in HCM 815, Managerial Epidemiology. His research focuses on hypertension and its sequelae across the lifespan including pregnancy complications, neurodevelopmental disorders, and adult cardiovascular disease.
Ranjani Krishnan, Ph.D. is the Ernest W. & Robert W. Schaberg Endowed Chair in Accounting at the Eli Broad Graduate School of Management. She teaches accounting in the Executive MBA, MBA, PhD, and executive education programs. Professor Krishnan’s research focuses on managerial accounting, cost behavior, and performance measurement. She is also working on issues related to health cost, health quality, and public policy. Her research has been published in several journals, including Academy of Management Review, Behavioral Research in Accounting, Contemporary Accounting Research, Information Systems Research, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Health Economics, Journal of Management Accounting Research, Management Science, andStrategic Management Journal.
Professor Krishnan is the recipient of the 2015 Best Paper Award of the Academy of Management Annual Meeting, 2013 Best Paper Award of the Journal of Management Accounting Research, 2012 Management Accounting Section’s Greatest Impact on Practice Award, the 2006 Notable Contribution to the Accounting Research Award from the American Accounting Association, the 2005 Notable Contribution to the Management Accounting Literature Award, and the 1999 McLaughlin Prize for Research in Accounting Ethics. She received the University Teacher Scholar Award (2002), Broad College Withrow Scholar Award (2006, 2012), and the Executive MBA Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award in 2013 – 2015 and 2017. She is the recipient of the 2018 Beal Distinguished Faculty Award from Michigan State University.
Kevin Miceli, Ph.D. joined Michigan State after completing his Ph.D. in Strategy and Entrepreneurship from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Kenan-Flagler School of Business. Dr. Miceli’s research focuses in the areas of innovation and entrepreneurship, particularly with a dissertation titled From Garage Inventor to Garage Entrepreneur. His dissertation identifies a clear set of individuals that could become technology entrepreneurs and explores at the decision point to proceed to entrepreneurship or not. His research is interested in the questions of how new products and businesses are built, particularly in technological industries
Frederick P Morgeson, Ph.D. is the Eli Broad Professor of Management at Michigan State University and current and founding Editor of the Annual Review of Organizational Psychology and Organizational Behavior. As an Industrial and Organizational psychologist, Dr. Morgeson is internationally recognized as one of the most prolific and highly cited scholars in the world (with nearly 100 publications and over 35,000 citations), an award-winning educator, a leader in the field (previous Editor of Personnel Psychology and past Chair of the Academy of Management Human Resources Division), and an active organizational consultant (over 130 organizations). He studies how organizations can optimally identify, select, develop, manage, and retain talent to achieve their strategic goals. With nearly three decades of experience, Dr. Morgeson has conducted award-winning research, taught, and consulted across a range of topics in the human resource management and talent management domain, including recruiting and hiring; leadership experiences and development; team leadership and performance; organizational development; and job analysis and design. He has worked with numerous public and private-sector organizations across a range of industries, with particular emphasis on high-risk and healthcare industries. He has also presented at universities and conferences around the world and has earned many awards for his research, including numerous best paper awards, citations, and nominations, and won the Distinguished Scientific Award for Early Career Contribution from the American Psychological Association. In recognition of this, Dr. Morgeson has been named Fellow of Academy of Management, American Psychological Association, Association for Psychological Science, and Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology.
Anand Nair, Ph.D. is the Eli Broad Endowed Professor in the Department of Supply Chain Management at Michigan State University. After completing his undergraduate degree in Engineering and MBA degree, he worked as a Manager for Systems Integration in India. Subsequently, Dr. Nair received his Ph.D. degree in Operations & Supply Chain Management from the Eli Broad College of Business, Michigan State University. After finishing his doctoral studies, Dr. Nair served on the faculties of the University of South Carolina and Auburn University before joining the Department of Supply Chain Management at Michigan State University.
Dr. Nair has worked with organizations in manufacturing, healthcare and retail sectors on issues such as inventory management, forecasting, pricing, capacity planning, lean systems, manufacturing planning and control, quality management, contracting, product development, process improvement and technology implementation. His research examines how firms, teams, and individuals learn, adapt, and organize to manage processes, supplies, technology, and innovation, and the associated performance implications.
Dr. Nair’s research articles have been published in leading operations and supply chain management journals. He was selected as the Fulbright-Aalto University Distinguished Chair in 2017-2018. He serves on the editorial boards of various journals and is currently serving as a Department Editor for the Journal of Operations Management and an Associate Editor for Decision Sciences.
Dr. Nair teaches operations and supply chain management to MBA, Executive-MBA, undergraduate, and doctoral students. As a part of his teaching, he has incorporated simulation games, case studies, and company-sponsored student projects. He is actively involved in mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
Dr. Nair holds the Certified Fellow in Production and Inventory Management (CFPIM) designation from ASCM, the Association of Supply Chain Management, and has completed the deep learning specialization from Deep learning AI and Data Science Methodology certification from IBM. He has served as Decision Sciences Institutes Vice-President and Secretary as well as a member of its Board of Directors.
He has trained in Hindustani classical vocal music and enjoys singing classical and light Indian music. He is also an avid student of the art of filmmaking. In his spare time, he likes to spend time with his family, read, watch movies, cross-country run, workout, watch football/soccer games, travel around the world, and experience various cultures by exploring local cuisines.
Zal Phiroz, Ph.D. is an expert on global supply chain management, and a professor specializing in supply chain analytics, operations management and data analytics. Following several years in senior management at Procter & Gamble, Dr. Phiroz embarked on a career in academia, specializing in supply chain management, operations and data analytics. Outside of teaching, Dr. Phiroz is a founding partner at Pier Consulting Group, at which he consults on projects with various Fortune 500 firms, as well as litigation involving supply chain areas.
Academically, Dr. Phiroz holds a CIPM and CISCM designation in Procurement and Supply Chain Management. He holds a PhD (Hierarchical decision-making patterns for the placement of physical supply chain entities), MBA in International Finance, and is a dual degree graduate of the University of Windsor (BS Honors [Computer Information Systems], BCS [Computer Science]). In addition to being appointed to the Executive Advisory Board for the Centre for Purchasing and Supply Chain Management, Dr. Phiroz has spoken at numerous international conferences including TEDx, ISM, OPAL, UN Canada, ByPi Turkey, Intermodal Brazil.
Raymond Pirouz, MBA is an author, consultant, and lecturer at the intersection of design, technology, commerce, and culture. An alumnus of the University of Michigan where he earned his MBA in Marketing and Innovation Management and the Art Center College of Design, where he earned his undergraduate degree with honors, Pirouz began his career as an advertising art director and later established a design studio where he consulted on projects for Adobe, c|net, Caltech, Macromedia, NASA/JPL, USC, Virgin Records and for clients representing American Century Mutual Funds, American Honda, Cathay Pacific, Fidelity Federal Bank, Panasonic, Toyota and others. Before transitioning to consult and teach full-time, Pirouz served as Director of Marketing at lynda.com, a subscription-based online publisher of video training material for teachers, students and creative professionals working with digital media.
Pirouz is the author of three books and his work has been featured in publications including Wired, Communication Arts, the AIGA Journal of Design, the Independent of London and books including Cascading Style Sheets: The Designer’s Edge, Education of an E-Designer and How to Design Logos, Symbols & Icons: 24 Internationally Renowned Studios Reveal How They Develop Trademarks for Print and New Media. Pirouz has served as a judge for design and advertising competitions, spoken at a number of conferences and taught at UCLA Extension, the Art Center College of Design, the Master of Digital Experience Innovation (MDEI) program at the University of Waterloo | Stratford, Ivey Business School at Western University, and the Paul Merage School of Business at UC Irvine.
Jonelle Roth, Ph.D. is an Assistant Visiting Professor in the Department of Management at Michigan State University, where she provides instruction in Human Resources Management, Negotiation skills, and Organizational Behavior. Dr. Roth received her Ph.D. in Business Administration from the Fuqua School of Business, Duke University. Dr. Roth has conducted corporate training in the areas of team building, negotiations, communication, power and influence, leadership, and change management for various companies. Her research focuses on communication, conflict, group decision-making, and sexual harassment. She has published numerous articles in these areas. Additionally, Dr. Roth is a trained mediator and previously was a volunteer mediator for the Georgia court system.
Harilaos (Haris) Sorovigas, MBA, JD is a Professor of Practice in MSU’s Department of Finance since 2007, where he specializes in entrepreneurship law, international business law and sustainability, and business law and ethics, with additional coursework in deferred and executive compensation, sports law and ethics, international business, political science, and public policy. He holds a Juris Doctor degree from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School. Also, he holds an MBA in international business and finance and a BS in computer systems management both from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island. He is a licensed attorney in the State of Michigan and practiced law for about seven years before entering academia full-time. In 2009–10, he won the Excellence in Teaching Award in recognition of his devotion and skill in teaching. He is a native of Greece, a retired soccer referee, and an enthusiastic and dedicated soccer coach.
Anjana Susarla, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Information Systems in the Eli Broad College of Business. She earned an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, a graduate degree in Business Administration from the Indian Institute of Management and a PhD in Information Systems from the University of Texas at Austin. Professor Susarla’s research interests include the economics of information systems and artificial intelligence. Her work has appeared in several academic journals and peer-reviewed conferences, such as Academy of Management Conference, Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining, Information Systems Research, International Conference in Information Systems, Journal of Management Information Systems, Management Science and MIS Quarterly. She has been a recipient of several best paper awards at international conferences and peer-reviewed publications.
Professor Susarla’s sits on the editorial boards of leading journals, serves on program committees of major international IS conferences and workshops and has worked in consulting and leading experiential projects with several companies. Her work has been quoted in several media outlets and websites, such as the Associated Press, Pew Research Center, Sirius XM, Newsweek, The Conversation, and Salon.
