Michigan State University’s Broad College of Business was ranked No. 42 overall in the 2014 Bloomberg Businessweek Best Undergraduate Business Schools ranking, up from No. 43 last year. Among public institutions, the college ranks No. 18.
Once again, the Broad College received a letter grade of A+ in job placement. This grade indicates performance in the top 20 percent of schools, based on students’ assessments of the career services and recruiting opportunities available to them. Only 15 public universities received this top recognition.
Recruiters continued to rank the program and its graduates highly, leading to a recruiter survey rank of No. 14—No. 8 among public institutions. For this measure, more than 300 corporate recruiters indicated which business schools they had recruited from and the quality of those hires.
The Businessweek rankings, which this year included 132 schools, explore student and recruiter feedback, post-graduation outcomes, and academic quality. Students and recruiters are surveyed about their experiences, and the results are combined with the previous two years of results (with 2014 weighing 50 percent and the previous two years 25 percent each). Businessweek also takes into account criteria such as SAT scores, average class size, the number of students with relevant internships, starting salaries, and the number of students who attend top MBA programs.
