The Broad College of Business kicks off the 2025–26 academic year with strategic leadership appointments

To kick off the 2025–26 academic year, the Eli and Edythe L. Broad Dean David Souder announced the successful completion of three key leadership searches at the Broad College of Business. These appointments include new chairpersons for the Department of Supply Chain Management and the Department of Accounting and Information Systems, as well as a new assistant dean of MBA and EMBA programs. These hires reflect Dean Souder’s commitment to building a dynamic and highly qualified leadership team focused on advancing the college’s academic reputation, supporting faculty excellence, and enhancing student success. With these new leaders in place, the Broad College is poised for an exciting year of growth and progress.

Chair of the Department of Supply Chain Management: Sriram Narayanan

Sriram Narayanan headshotSriram Narayanan, the Eli Broad Endowed Professor of Supply Chain Management, is a respected scholar whose research explores innovation, sustainability, inclusion, and organizational productivity in supply chains. His work has been published in top academic journals, including Management Science, Manufacturing and Service Operations Management, Journal of Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, and Strategic Management Journal. Narayanan has received numerous accolades for his contributions, including the John D. and Dorotha J. Withrow Endowed Research Scholar Award, the Community-Engaged Partnership Award at Michigan State University, Broad Integrative Fellowship and Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS) Champion Award for being a statewide partner. He has also served in editorial roles for several leading journals and held leadership positions in national academic organizations, including as the founding faculty director of the Center for Ethical and Responsible Leadership at MSU. Beyond his scholarship, Sriram brings extensive leadership experience from serving in national and international roles within the supply chain academic community, including on the board of directors of the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center. His industry background in automotive manufacturing and high technology sectors prior to academia strengthens his commitment to industry-engaged teaching and research, and further positions him to lead the department in impactful ways.

I am excited to collaborate with our exceptional faculty, staff, students, and industry partners to further strengthen our impact, foster innovation in teaching and research, and continue shaping the future of supply chain management on a global scale.”

Chair of the Department of Accounting and Information Systems: Isabel Wang

A professional headshot of Isabel WangIsabel Wang, the Deloitte/Michael Licata Professor in Accounting, is an internationally recognized scholar whose research examines how regulations and top executives influence corporate financial reporting and disclosure practices. Her work has been published in premier academic journals in both accounting and finance. Since joining the Broad College in 2005, Wang has demonstrated research excellence, a strong commitment to student success, and outstanding leadership. She has earned several top honors for her scholarship, including the Competitive Manuscript Award, the Best Dissertation Award, and the Distinguished Contributions to Accounting Literature Award from the American Accounting Association. Wang is also a passionate and caring teacher, frequently voted Best Professor by students in the master’s program in accounting. She has contributed significantly to the Broad College and the academic profession through leadership roles as committee chair, national conference coordinator, and journal editor. With her strong record in research, teaching, and leadership, she is well-positioned to guide the accounting and information systems department into its next chapter of excellence.

Most importantly, I want to ensure our students are equipped with the skills, mindset, and ethical grounding to thrive as leaders in a complex and dynamic business world. I’m excited to work with our exceptional faculty and staff to shape the future of accounting education and make a meaningful impact.”

Assistant dean of MBA and EMBA programs: Wayne Hutchison

Wayne Hutchinson headshotWayne R. Hutchison is assistant dean of MBA Programs at Broad, where he leads strategy and operations for the Full-Time, STEM, Executive, and FLEX MBA programs. His work focuses on academic planning, student success, global engagement, and industry collaboration. Since joining the Broad College in 2012, he has championed curricular innovation, launching Broad’s first STEM MBA and new majors in analytics, entrepreneurship, and corporate social responsibility. Hutchison also developed Extreme Green, an experiential innovation course connecting students with corporate partners, and leads the MBA study abroad program, offering immersive experiences in global business and CSR practices. His efforts have expanded professional readiness initiatives and built stronger engagement pipelines for diverse and non-traditional MBA candidates. He previously served as managing director of the Full-Time and STEM MBA Programs and director of admissions at MSU College of Law. A U.S. Air Force veteran, and a two-time Spartan alum, Hutchison holds a Ph.D. in Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education from MSU.

“I’m honored to serve as Assistant Dean for MBA and EMBA programs and to help lead two of Broad’s flagship offerings. These programs attract driven, talented professionals, and I’m excited to support their development through innovative curriculum, personalized engagement, and a strong sense of community,” said Hutchison. “My goal is to ensure every student feels empowered to grow as a leader and make a lasting impact in their organizations and beyond.”
