Each year, the Broad College’s Sylvan T. Warrington Visiting Lectureship in Ethics and Leadership welcomes esteemed alumni back to their alma mater to speak to current undergraduate and graduate students. Critical business topics like corporate citizenship, strategy and ethical leadership are the focus of the event, as alumni lend their own experiences to the conversation and share advice for tomorrow’s business leaders.

At the 2023 Warrington Lecture on Oct. 12, Linda Hubbard (B.A. Accounting ’82), president and chief operating officer of Carhartt, will be the featured executive speaker. She will join Interim Dean Judith Whipple in a “fireside chat” to discuss how she brings strategy, leadership and ethics to life at the Michigan-based workwear company.

Hubbard has been with Carhartt since 2002 and previously served as the company’s chief financial officer and chief operating officer. As the first non-family member in the role of president in Carhartt’s 134-year history, she leads corporate strategic objectives and is responsible for connecting all facets of business operations. In all she does, Hubbard strives to uphold the company’s values, which are to be inspired by hardworking people, to respect the company’s rich heritage while walking bravely into the future and to work with honesty and integrity.

As a proud Broad alumna, Hubbard has an unwavering commitment to the college and has remained involved in various ways over the years. She served as a commencement speaker in 2019 and again in 2022, when she was presented with an honorary Doctorate in Business. She is also a former member of the Broad College’s Advisory Board, contributing to a group of accomplished alumni who dedicate their time, expertise, leadership and financial support to their alma mater.

The 2023 Warrington Lecture will take place on Thursday, Oct. 12, at 6 p.m. in the North Business Building. The lecture will be an open and engaging opportunity for students and alumni to hear about Hubbard’s career path, leadership style and advice for tomorrow’s business leaders. Registration is available on the Broad College events page.
